Very unpleasant experience with a hostile Da Vinciâs employee and their family
I was doing a small delivery next door and had parked up on a very wide section of tarmac off the road to make the heavy lifting easier. When I came back outside to my car after bringing things in I saw an older lady taking a picture of me. I then went over to her and kindly asked her if she knew if it was okay if I parked there while I sorted out some more things inside. She said, âwell youâre parked on the sidewalk you idiotâ. At which point an employee ran out from inside Da Vinciâs and got right in my face and yelled, âWhy are you talking to her?â I was pretty shocked at this hostility, on a Tuesday morning, it felt as though it came out of no where. I told him that I was simply asking her if she knew if I could park here. It became evident that this was a mother and son. They both were coming off as very aggressive. He said, âWell are you stupid? Youâre parked on the sidewalk.â He continued to ramble and the older woman continued to chime in as well. I decided reasoning with these two was not worth any more effort. I got in my car and left, parking around the corner instead. Moving was easy to do, and would have been happy to do so if they had just approached the situation with kindness rather than hostility and manic energy. Itâs apparent that there are some issues there, and I hope that they are able to find peace â I extend my best wishes to the folks at Da Vinci that they are able to approach strangers with more compassion in the future. I felt as though writing this review was important to illustrate the character currently behind the business.

Read moreDaVinci Pizza on the Square in downtown Scranton, Pennsylvania, is a small pizzeria that can handle big appetites. WIth new owners taking over within the past year, the eatery not only features specialty pizzas, but also hot and cold subs, wings, and pasta salad.
I visited the place after work on a Friday afternoon, around 5:15. Although the tables in the back were empty, the staff was hard at work making pizzas for what appeared to be a constant flow of take-out customers.
I heard DaVinci was making Detroit-style pizza earlier in the day, so I was hoping to get a few cuts of the square pizza. I was lucky enough to grab the three remaining cuts and hastened toward the back, where I can enjoy my meal in peace. The pan crust was thick, crisp, chewy and airy. The cheese is nice and gooey, with the tomato sauce sitting on top. The cuts were big, and although I could have stopped at two, I couldnât resist the great taste and dived into the third.
The eatery has approximately 10 tables in the back, with the front counter filled with different types of pizzas. One can then turn 180 degrees and grab a soft beverage while waiting. Being located next to the federal and county courthouses, as well as other downtown businesses, I wouldnât be surprised if lunchtime is extremely busy. The staff is friendly and accommodating, with plenty of hustling and communication going on between them.
DaVinci also has daily specials featured on their Facebook page. Give this place a try, and youâll see why cookie-cutter, national chains canât hold a torch to northeastern...
Read moreWe stepped into this place feeling very hungry completely sold by their outdoor sign that promised âItalianâ eatery. Upon placing an order (they added 18% tip without asking) we stepped into the bathroom and then the dining room. We should have ran after seeing the disaster that was inside. The place is destroyed, dirty and unkept. The service is horrible even though the 18% gratuities are added automatically when you pay with credit card. The pizza took forever to arrive. It was horrible and I mean a compete disaster. Whoever makes the sauce needs new taste buds as everything is just way too much. After eating two slices as we were starving, we discovered that even though the pizza was very thin in the center and burned on the bottom, the outer half of the crust remained undercooked and raw. The sauce is so horrible that almost 20 hours later I still suffered from a severe heartburn and upset stomach. DO NOT EAT THERE. Plenty of other places to choose from in the immediate proximity. This place needs to close, remodel, get a new cook and stuff that actually wants to be there. Oh, you know the extras that every pizza place offers, like additional cheese, garlic etc.? Well, these people are so cheap that they have a table with 3 single containers that have spoons to âspreadâ the âplasticâ grated cheese, garlic powder and oregano. You cannot even take them to the table and have to use the spoon to put any condiments on the absolutely disgusting pizza that they have the...
