Chicken Express — Restaurant in Sealy

We just left this location & will not return. We have been going here since it opened. We even met the owner a couple of times & he was a nice man. The treatment tonight by the mgr was enough to decide its not worth the trip from Katy to Sealy for chicken. We placed our order time stamped 5:07pm. 12 piece chicken only, no thighs. As we waited for our order 3 other customers were served at the counter and we counted 4 cars in drive thru. At 5: 17 we asked about our order when yet another customer was being served & we were told they were waiting on chicken. Then a young female worker came to our table & asked if we were wanting "no dark meat". We told her ," no thighs, wings, drumsticks & breaststroke were what we ordered" and showed her our receipt. She said they were working on it & it would be a few more minutes. At 5:30pm we finally asked for our money back. We said it's taking too long & other customers are being served while we are forced to wait. The younger girl calls to an older woman mgr & says " they don't think it takes 15 mins to cook chicken ". That woman comes to the counter & we tell her we want our money back because its been too long. She said " chicken takes 15 mins" I told her I don't believe you because it has been 27 mins & we still don't have our food". She tells my husband he doesn't need to put his cc back in the machine , that the refund will auto back to his card. I ask her a receipt but all she gave me back was the original order receipt, not proof of refund. This mgr was rude & completely ignorant of time because regardless of how long the chicken cooks we waited far longer than her " 15 mins" and they were serving customers while we waited both inside & in drive thru with chicken. We believe they forgot our order & rather than admit a mistake she chose to be defensive & rude. We have always liked Chicken Express, we have a home in Dallas & frequented those locations every week. After this experience we will not return to this store except to get our money if the refund does not appear on our cc. That woman needs retraining...

Updated: spoke to owner and have been assured the employees have been instructed to take care of customers and drop fresh chicken even if it is 2min from closing time.

I called at 8:27 pm to confirm the closing time(10pm) and make sure if we made the 40min drive that there would be chicken tenders available to purchase seems how they close at 10pm and was assured that would not be a problem. When we get to the drive through(9:10pm) we are told after trying to place an order (25pc regular tender with 2 family sides(okra/french fries),5 jalapeños, and rolls) that they are out of regular tenders and only have spicy. Our kids can’t eat spicy so we ask if they can substitute for bone in chicken instead and the gentleman working the drive through can be heard asking if that would be okay and a lady says no. So we say thank you anyways and drive away. When I called to speak to the manager about 20min later on our way home to let her know I would be calling the district manager she then informs me that if we are still close by that they had just had to drop more tenders because more customers had showed up and could have our order filled, but that they usually only drop chicken for the last time at 8:30pm because it takes time to close down and clean up before the staff can leave. I was highly disappointed and explained that we had even been willing to have the food substituted with bone in and she said that should have been okay. Absolutely delicious Chicken Lovers, I love going to this place. Though the menu is designed to trick people bad at math to make them pay more. Some of the sides are sneaky. So I'll give you reader some tips.

Get a dinner instead of meal. It switches out your drink for a side. So you get your meal plus two sides. Then just order a medium drink separately for $1. Will save you $2 this way getting you a nice full meal.

Also some sides are super sketchy. Example Cheese Sticks only come with 2, and Cheddar Poppers only come with 3. So unless you like getting ripped avoid those.

They give you a ton of fries and have great seasoned salt! The corn poppers are also freakishly good. Make sure if you get the fried pickles you let them know you want the side of ranch it's supposed to come with.

I love this place as long as you order right ^_^. Your meal will only cost $10...
