I was SO EXCITED to return to Biscuit and Bean after it "reopened" under new management. Do not be fooled by the familiar "Biscuit and Bean" logo in the window: this is not biscuit and bean. This is a coffee shop/cafe that has one biscuit sandwich. I ordered it Ballard breakfast sandwich, expecting it to be similar to the old sandwiches and I was sorely disappointed. There was no sauce/aioli so the biscuit was INCREDIBLY dry (the cheddar cheese only added to this), the bacon was microwave ready bacon, and the egg was severely overcooked. The other person with me ordered the panini pesto sandwich and it was cold on the inside. There was an option to upgrade to a biscuit on all the sandwiches for $4, which is expensive on top of a $12-$14 sandwich. The sandwich menu was standard, nothing that looked unique from other generic coffee shop sandwiches.
When we ordered they asked for a name on the ticket, which the people preparing the food promptly threw away without writing that name on the boxes/drinks. This led to lots of unnecessary confusion as the menu is limited. We were sitting outside waiting to hear our name when we were approached with a biscuit sandwich, which I took because that was what I ordered. This was actually someone else's sandwich and had been sitting on the counter for who knows how long and was cold. They had no idea who it belonged to because they threw out the names they asked for with the order. There was also no drive through as this window was closed, even though the menu was outside.
The only (small) saving grace was the excellent latte. Really delicious espresso served at a drinkable temperature. I might come back in a few weeks to see if they have figured out some of the problems, but likely won't return. Truly disappointing to lose a delicious Ballard staple to something pretending to be...
Read moreI love this biscuit place. They have the best biscuits ever!!! I love the special ones they make like the cheddar chive, I believe? So tasty! I’m from Portland and I dream about the biscuits and hopefully they will open up shop down here! They are big, soft and flakey. And that’s just the biscuits! They also have some amazing spreads. My favorites include garlic butter and herbed goat cheese. My sister likes the bacon jam! They have breakfast sandwich with bacon and eggs that are great but I like to keep it simple. You can even get biscuits and gravy!!!!! They have a vegetarian option for gravy too, mushroom gravy!! YAS! They recently started incorporating biscuit sandwiches on the menu and they all look awesome. Beverages are tasty too. Had a cold brew with vanilla added. Very good stuff! Get here early cuz they sell out fast of the flavored biscuits. They have a drive through window if you are in a rush? Don’t know how fast it really is cuz they are always busy inside. Long lines may scare you away but it’s worth it. The staff that works here are hard workers and you can tell because you can see everything that they are doing. No secrets or shady stuff going on. Just straight deliciousness. Parking lot can fill up fast but there is some street parking in the neighborhood. GO HERE. Will not disappoint you....
Read moreI can’t believe it took me so long to finally try this place. It’s not in the heart of Ballard’s market street offerings but well worth venturing a tad north for this joint. I think the drive-thru made it super convenient to pop by. I really enjoyed their Signature biscuit and mocha coffee. I’m not much a coffee drinker so I would refrain from reviewing that but my goodness heavens, the biscuit was phenomenal. The softness, freshness and its combination with eggs and spinach made it a wholesome breakfast. Additionally, the house pepper aioli was a magnificent complement to the prosciutto, it admittedly was one of my favorite parts of the dish. The service was decent and nothing overly pretentious. The food spoke for itself which is what matters most. One challenge and this is more logistically speaking is the drive-thru system. It’s a small parking-lot so sometimes it gets backed up and you’re waiting for another car to leave so there isn’t clear guidance on what to do after your order is taken, so you either just sit idly waiting for a parking spot or park on the street and stand out and wait. This in no way reflects their service and I think they’re doing the best they can within reason. I’m sold and see this place as a goto breakfast/brunch spot when in the mood for some...
