Excellent authentic Kerala/Tamilnadu fare. Went there on Jan 1st. Called ahead to make sure they were open, and they were. Its a non pretentious place with separated seatings cause of Covid. The lady was very pleasant with a beaming voice. I would say there were about 10 tables which could seat 4 people each. We were checked for our vaccination status and promptly seated. I believe it can get very crowded, but it wasnt so much when we got there (Jan 1st and around 6 pm). We ordered chai, sambar vada, idiyappam with egg curry and parotta with chicken chettinadu. All of them were authentic and nicely spiced (chettinadu style - ginger + black pepper). Note that sambar vada needs to be cut into pieces and let soak in the sambar (lentil stew) so that it gets soaked and soft. It was delicious. The idiyappam is - rice soft thin noodles, which take on the flavor of what you are soaking it in. We chose egg curry and it didn’t disappoint! Always let it soak! Next was parotta with chicken curry. We didnt want rice and so the lady graciously offered to give us an extra parotta ! So we got a total of 3 parottas. The parottas were freshly made and you could tell - flaky like a croissant! Again, the key is to let it soak it in the chicken curry and devour it! Oh how delightful:-) The chettinadu chicken curry, I think had too much of tomato flavor which I think is the only fault I could find....
Read moreChilli's is the WORST place I've ever eaten in my entire life. I don't know how this restaurant is still in business.... There are so many health code violations that happen at this restaurant... Please do NOT eat here if you can help it, it'll upset your mood and your stomach. The paratha that they serve here is OLD FROZEN INDIAN STORE BOUGHT PARATHA... All the curries here are also FROZEN INDIAN CURRY that they simply microwave. More than half the menu here is just store bought frozen food microwaved... I don't know how no one caught this before. It is unbelievable. They charge about $20 per curry and then additional costs for paratha. At a store, this EXACT frozen meal costs about $4. This restaurant is exploiting people who simply want a Indian food experience.
Also, the staff is EXTREMELY rude. We were waiting about 20 minutes for our bill but none of the staff was responsive and kept ignoring us. Then, after a while, one of the staff members told us we have to get up and go pay the bill at a register, they will not give it to you. Lastly, when one of my friends asked for a to-go box, they refused and started rushing us to leave. Eating here is a horrible experience that will leave you feeling frustrated and scammed. I never write reviews but I had such a horrible experience that I had to...
Read moreThis rating is based on service, not food quality (which we didn't even get to try). We were a group of 9 for lunch, so I called ahead to attempt to make a reservation, and was told they didn't accept reservations. We decided to head down anyway, eager to try the South Indian specialties. When we arrived, the manager (or perhaps the owner) asked if we had a reservation. Really? Anyway, they made a big fuss about putting tables together so we sat down in neighboring tables. No biggie. Then, we were informed that they were only serving North Indian buffet, and despite some gentle cajoling on our part, they refused to accept a la carte orders, even though the restaurant was not busy. As we were contemplating amongst ourselves, the manager/owner announced loudly across the room that I had called and specifically asked for a reservation for a lunch buffet and said "shall I replay your message to prove it?". This was completely uncalled for; I was not challenging her at all. She then proceeded to ask, quite rudely, whether or not we wanted the child seat, in a manner that that indicated she didn't care whether we ate there or not. At that point, we walked out. I don't care how good their food is; I would never return to a place that treats their...
