Was so excited to try this place! The food and drinks were fantastic. The sea-tini was their delicious take on a dirty martini and the crab dip was so yummy. Of note, they have a very limited food menu, but there is a more extensive food menu at the hotel’s other restaurant (Salt and Harvest) downstairs.
Based on food, drinks, and atmosphere alone, this place would be an easy 5 stars. Unfortunately, the service was so frustrating that it lost two stars. It started when we went up to the host at the elevator and asked to go up to FIRN. He asked if we had reservations and I said that I wasn’t aware we could make one. He fairly rudely said that if we didn’t have one the wait would be 30min. We said sure and got our names on the list. My friend later went back to show him the site where we had attempted to make reservations and it said that the restaurant was not taking reservations, and he said “well yeah we’re not taking reservations til Monday.”
The wait was not bad - we got a drink downstairs at Salt and Harvest and the service there was great. However, when we got upstairs, it was impossible to place an order. We were finally able to flag down the host who seated us and asked who was supposed to take our order and he said he would, without apology for our wait to place an order. We proceeded to have extreme difficult finding someone to place the second half of our order with. Finally, we had very clearly ordered a large bottle of sparkling water to serve all of us. One of the servers brought over a small glass of sparkling water and when we kindly corrected her that we wanted a bottle for all of us to share, she seemed clearly annoyed despite the mistake not being our own.
Overall, the service significantly affected our experience and would really affect my decision of whether to return. When you are paying this much money, you expect...
Read moreWas excited to check out Seattle’s newest rooftop bar. We went on a Sunday Tuesday evening. Checked in with the host who put us on a waiting list for an outdoor table. After receiving the confirming text we went to a nearby bar and waited for almost an hour. We decided to check back in with Firn only to find that the host was gone. Another server took us up and we were met with the host who informed us that we were never placed in the wait list. The hosts attitude left a lot to be desired. Non apologetic and kinda rude and uninterested. I would have expected that if they messed up on the waitlist that they would at least Be a little nice or accommodating to make up for the 1hr of unnecessary wait we had. She then asked us to step to the side while she helped everyone else in line who came in after us. Not sure why or how that made any sense? In the end we were told to start at the bar while a table outside opened up but unfortunately nothing did or other people has reservations.
Onto the drinks- these cocktails were one of the more flavorful of cocktails that I’ve had at fancy rooftop bars. None of the drinks we ordered lacked any flavor. They stayed true to their descriptions and were enjoyable.
I would definitely give this place another try and hopefully receive better service on...
Read moreVisited the Populus hotel on a sunny day between 7:30 and 9:30pm. During that time, I parked and locked my very expensive electric scooter right outside their hotel while grabbing drinks at Firn. Two hours later, after a $300 bill, my scooter was gone. The thick lock to my was cut with an angel grinder right outside their hotel. We asked the front desk for security camera footage of their bike racks on first avenue and it took them 4 days to say they didn’t have anything facing their bike racks (major oversight?). I recognize Firn and Populus didn’t steal my scooter, but customers should know that crime is still a major problem in Pioneer Square and the hotel has inadequate security. Easily the most expensive night out I have had in my 30 years of living in Seattle. The hotel said they were sorry, but that doesn’t really soften the blow.
Additional context: I had a u-lock that required cutting on two sides to open, so the thief shockingly had time to...
