General Porpoise serves an amazing batch of upscale donuts and delicious coffee to match. This cafe is one of my favorites to visit on a trip to Seattle as they have a rotating set of seasonal flavors to try so you’ll always run into something new. The donuts are the lighter side and fluffy made of a brioche dough I believe. The fillings are all sourced from high quality ingredients. I tried one of each flavor on this trip but my favorites were the berry jam and the pistachio this time. Coffee wise they have a solid cold brew and other craft options. The inside is well decorated and the staff at this location were super friendly. They have a few other spots around town so definitely check it out!

I was hoping to come for a year now. They have a very light and uplifting atmosphere, the staff is super nice and helpful, and doughnuts are good. The latte was okay since I was not a fan of their beans, and the drink itself wasn’t thick enough for me. Coffee aside, they also sell ceramic coffee mugs that I really wanted to buy. They had run out of their commercial mugs when I went but were able to find a workaround for me. I was super happy. It was super nice of them! 100/100 for the customer delight! I was able to sit comfortably, connect to WiFi, and do some focused work. They are known for their doughnuts. If that sounds like you, then go and pick your flavour! 🍩

The place is super cute, branding is adorable, and the vibe was awesome. However, $6 for one doughnut is a little absurd. These are more fancy doughnuts (although still not worth the price) so they were not approved by my kids. The small americano I got tasted like a blonde roast- very juicy and acidic- great if you like blonde roast, but I am not a fan and that is not at all what I was expecting. It ended up being almost $35 for 4 doughnuts and a small americano with tax. The service was great, staff was nice, and restrooms clean. They have a water refilling station which was very convenient.

Looking for coffee in the area of the train station led us here. The Pioneer area of Seattle being what it is, an area transitioning from homeless drug addicted mental illness blight to gentrified hipster cool smugness, this seemed a good close choice. The coffee was good. The pastries were exceptional! The huckleberry doughnut was awesome and the talent of the baker was obvious. That was a decadent indulgence. And the price reflected that. But that’s Seattle. The place leaves me with one word: confused. General Porpoise with an orca on the logo. French bistro coffee donut shop with a blue hair counter barista (blue dyed not old age blue hair; it’s Seattle so smug avant-garde cool is a must). And then the lighting fixtures of elephants told me that confused was what this place was. Not many other choices in the area for train...
