SO disappointed in our experience this past Sunday night! The Yard has been a signature spot for my boyfriend and i to grab a drink or enjoy a good meal (the bbq chicken salad is our go to!) So much so, that we decided it was the place to take my parent's to during their visit this weekend. I love a good Red/Amber beer. So when i saw that there was a beer on the menu that was labeled that, i was quick to order. There wasn't any description of the beer, but because of my love for Red's i didn't think it would be anything aside from what i was used to. Needless to say when the drink came, and unfortunately it tasted like it was infused by straight vinegar! I took one sip and knew even if i wanted to, i couldn't suck it down. So as soon as i saw the waiter over by himself by a the computer i wandered over (to avoid making a fuss at the table) and told him i wasn't aware the beer would taste this potent and asked if i could exchange it for a pilsner (which is always a safe bet). His immediate response was snarky and "Oh i can get you another beer, but you'll still have to pay for this. We are a small independently owned restaurant, so we don't take beers back." I was floored. If you're a neighborhood establishment, wouldn't you want to take care of your community? It's a frickin beer! To top it off with our experience, a dad wandered in with his 3 year old daughter and sat down at the table next to us. They were obviously having a father/daughter outing. He gets her settled and pulls out a peanut butter and jelly sandwich to keep her happy and content. She saw quietly and ate her small sandwich as her dad began to look over the menu for himself. Just moments later a waiter came over and said they couldn't have outside food in the restaurant. I'm sorry, WHAT. Is there even a kids menu at The Yard? This is absurd. Of course, rightfully so, the dad and daughter left, UPSET, claiming never to return. The ownership of this place needs to sit their staff down and have a little come to Jesus chat about their demeanor, attitudes, and interaction with the public and community. It's hard for me to say i'll be back, and will spread the word about...
Read moreAVOID THIS PLACE Edible food (edible but nothing more) tainted by the absolute worst service I've ever experienced! Waiter couldn't give me a straight answer when I asked if the food was authentic Mexican (it's not). Then the waiter called me ma'am (I'm not), got extremely awkward when I corrected them for misgendering me, talked over me about to tell them my order to tell me they'd come back in a minute for my order... then asked the table next to me TWICE if they needed anything before finally coming to ask for my order after about 20ish minutes [I had the menu closed on the edge of the table and tried to get their attention during this time but was ignored so they could go stand behind the bar and text on their phone]. Honestly wish I would have left considering how DISRESPECTFUL the bartender/waiter was. Even when I lived in the Midwest I have NEVER felt so awful and disrespected for being a member of the LGBTQ2S+ community as the waiter here made me feel. Honestly I will never come back to this place after this awkward and awful experience. I am becoming more and more convinced that anyone leaving a 5 star review on this place is delusional and/or...
Read moreI hate writing bad reviews but unfortunately I need to mark this as a spot a place to avoid. Service started out great and we ordered the Taco Dorado's - they are essentially a mushy pulled chicken inside a fried tortilla shell (the lettuce and tomatos on the top are essential to make palatable) - we ordered a few beers and our server was great about giving us tasters to find what we wanted from the variety of local beers (beers were delicious)...
Now for when everything really went down hill. The Fish and chips is horrible, greasy with raw batter on all 3 pieces, I've reviewed dozens of fish and chips and these are some of the worst due to this issues. The chips were skinny limp fries with no seasoning, but if there was one decent thing, it was the pickled cabbage on the side. The Sopes Chili Verde looked great but was lacking in flavor and half the pork was the chewy fatty portion that chews more like gum.
For $90 I would say the price is overwhelming for what you're paying.
Side note, as I'm writing this, my stomach is starting to turn... Potentially undercooked food could make for a...
