Because our first experience was so positive we went back a few days later. My bill came out to about 20% more than I was expecting. When asked about this I was told that the menu prices online had not been updated, OK. And then I was told that there was a surcharge added for packaging. This is not that unreasonable at all if it is disclosed. It is highly unreasonable to tack on extra charges and not mention them. To me this is dishonest and even though it truly is one of the best Mediterranean Culinary experiences I have had to date, I won’t be going back. I’m on a budget and stretching it to include eating out is one thing. It’s entirely another to experience price goudging and undiclosed fees and expenses. Some day when my budget is not a consideration and I don’t care anymore, I may reconsider. But for now, Gorgeous George, we bid you Adieu. We are not angry or upset and appreciated the extra hummus and baklava. We understand that times are hard. Times are hard for us too at the moment. We will recover and so will you, but not at our additional undisclosed expense. If you don’t have a budget and don’t care, eat here, seriously, the food is amazing. But if your budget means something to you and you’re splurging, then there’s other Mediterranean places to eat that will fully disclose what your expenditure actually is amd you won’t get a 20% shock at the register. We were so hungry by the time we got home we didn’t take any photos. The food was so delicious and the car smelled ridiculously tasty by the time we got in. I don’t even know where to start. The flavors are obviously extremely well thought out.
We got the Nazareth Appetizers. The hummus was creamy ans well seasoned. The Babaghanouje (I know I spelled it incorrectly) was really creamy and mild as well. Not like some where the eggplant is sharp. This eggplant was young amd braised to perfection before it became That lovely concoction that goes with this pita so well. Even the Pita was good!!!! Sometimes Pita is where Mediterranean joint fails itself. Not the case here.
The salad that came with the Nazareth Appetizers was so delicious. Explosions of counterpointing flavors were dancing in my mouth as the salty, creamy feta blended with the sour pickles and the slightly sweet mint and basil dressing. Oh and that Feta was really really good!
We got the Lamb Chops and the Lamb Kabob. The lamb is succulent and cooked to a perfect Medium Rare. Large portions and they’re so tasty. The meat is tender and juicy and so flavorful. The rice is good, and the vegetables! I loved the Roadted Vegetables! Squash, Broccoli, Carrots. Yum!
The Fallafel Platter was also delicious. The Fallafel was crisp on the outside and soft and green on the inside. Not greasy at all. Served with a light and slightly fluffy tahini sauce and Rice with Salad.
Also, I liked Gorgeous George. When he walked out of the kitchen I could tell he was smiling under his mask. There is a difference when food is cooked with love and this food has all the love in it! Eat here! You won’t...
Read moreI’ve lived in Seattle since 2018. I’ve tried many mediterranean restaurants since then but have yet to have anything comparable to the amazing, authentic quality of Gorgeous Georges.
I want to start with my absolute FAVORITE, his dolmas. I’m usually disappointed at the quality from other places - they can be over priced, ice cold, too vinegary. George clearly knows what he’s doing. The dolmas are delicate, always warm, full of flavor. You can taste all the herbs he uses in them. They’re bursting at the seams. Above all, they’re tender and seasoned perfectly.
His falafel is also out of this world - unbelievably moist. They never fall apart, they’re never dry, and have a beautiful green tinge from the fresh herbs.
The babaghanouj is phenomenal. He charcoal grills his eggplant so they’re extra smokey and delicious. So smooth, so creamy, not bitter at all.
You will be hard pressed to find a hummus smoother, richer, or creamier than Georges. So unbelievably delicious.
The Mediterranean chicken I ordered was juicy, tender, perfectly cooked. The quality of produce he uses for the side of roast vegetables is AAA+ - broccolini, carrots, green beans, all perfectly cooked - not mushy. Paired with his homemade toum, its to die for.
The quality of meat that he uses is also great- the lamb my friend ordered was unbelievably tender and flavorful, not gamey.
If you’re a feta snob like me, you’ll appreciate that George uses fresh, brine-soaked feta instead of those dry crumbles you get everywhere else. So rich and creamy, perfect in his salads.
I’m forgetting to mention the other mezze we had - baby cucumbers, pickled eggplant, and the richest kalamata olives you’ll ever taste.
The tahini sauce is rich and creamy. You’ll taste his homemade salad dressing and wish you would have left with a bottle of it.
We also had his lentil soup, not pictured below: herbaceous, lite, but very filling. I love the addition of radishes.
On top of all this: perfectly seasoned rice pilaf, warm and chewy pita, and a side of the worlds best baklava.
It’s clear that George has a wealth of culinary knowledge, and with it, a desire to share it with his community. It shows in the quality of the ingredients he choses. It shows in his meticulous food preparation (side note, the olive oil he uses to finish his dishes is so rich in flavor) And, It shows in his heart warming generosity. You feel like family here.
All in all, George is my go-to when I’m craving Mediterranean flavors. You’ll eat his food and never want to eat anywhere else.
Do yourself and your loved ones a favor and order from here. You will not be...
Read moreGorgeous Georges is a gem of a restaurant and caterer! We hired them for our wedding of over 120+ people after ordering from them several times. Having a large family meant that our past experiences with wedding catering were less than stellar (making a large amount of food for a massive crowd while keeping it restaurant quality is immensely difficult, I want to make that very clear), but with Gorgeous George’s we were able to satisfy our families and friends’ cross-cultural (my family is Vietnamese and my partner’s is Nepali) appetites without any trouble!
George and Rula were kind, friendly, and knowledgeable, helping us out with any of our endless list of questions. They understood the stress that comes with wedding planning, and did their best to accommodate our shifting needs including creating a menu that met the different dietary restrictions of our attendees. Also, Rula and George have an eye for setting up an breathtaking buffet spread, making our mid-budget wedding feel extra special! They made more than enough to feed everyone’s appetites and all of our guests raved about the food, many saying it was the best wedding food they had ever eaten.
Highly recommend the lamb, which was juicy and tender, but everything else on their menu, such as the salad, vegetables, chicken, falafel, potatoes, and desserts are made fresh with a lot of thought, care, and a beautiful...
