Jack's BBQ is the worst restaurant in all of SLU. I ordered my food at 6:15 for pickup at 7:00PM. I had ordered around $100 worth of food and had left a tip for a pickup order. Some ribs, brisket, sausages. Me and my friend get their at 6:59PM and asked for pick up for me. They said it was not ready it. So we decided to wait inside the restaurant. The spot is pretty small so it was cramped but we did not want to stand outside as Seattle in the winter is extremely cold. In 2 minutes, the guy right next to the cashier asked us if he can help us rudely. He 100% heard us the first time that we were waiting on our food. So we picked up on the social cue and went outside. 10 minutes pass and at 7:10PM I go back inside for my pickup. Not ready they said. Okay back outside we went. At 7:18PM I get a call from Jacks BBQ that asks about our order. We immediately go back inside and he mentions that they are out of ribs and sausages. So basically our entire order I said. Only thing we had left was 1LB of brisket. I was like okay well lets cancel the order. He was hesitant and said we can give you 4 tenders instead. 4 tenders instead of 1LB of Ribs and 4 sausage links? I was confused but did not want to make such a big deal. I said fine and left the store. I was also picking up a plate of brisket for my girlfriend and in the online order clearly stated to please package the 1/4lb of brisket in a seperate box. 20 minutes go by and they finally get our food out. Now, for our trouble, they did give us a mac&Cheese, 2 slices of pecan pie so I can't complain there, after my friend asked for something. (They did not give it to us out of their own heart). At 7:40PM, we finally get out of that restaurant stop by my girlfriends house drop off her brisket and went home. That process took about 20 minutes because at 8:00PM we were finally home unboxing the food. When I tell you that the food was so bad that is an understatement. The chicken tenders were very obviously stale like they had been sitting out for hours. The brisket was horrible, and literally the only thing that was okay was the small mac and cheese my friend had. I get a call from my girlfriend that her food was also horrible and instead of brisket she had 2 sausages. I cannot make this up, one of the worst experiences I have ever had in my entire life. From the customer service, to the actual food, this place was so horrible. To recap this story, we got our food order wrong, waited in the cold for about an hour, had bad customer service, and paid $100 for...
Read moreI was born and raised in California but lived in Texas for a few years. Brisket is hard to find in Cali. When I travel I like to find new BBQ spots to try out and take sauce home with me. I was walking downtown and saw a sign for Jacks so started doing research and found this location. I wish they had private booths or tables instead of one long bench style table. If you go out the back door you will understand why it is set up like this. Since I was on vacation I was a fatty and tried a little bit of everything. I had a Dallas style brisket sandwich and it was amazing. I was not a big fan of the slaw on the sandwich. I had mac and cheese as a side and I would give that a 6 out of 10. It was not great but I have had worse. I would not eat it again. I ordered a frito pie to go for dinner and the beans were amazing. I wish they provided 2 side cups of onions and cheese or bigger to go sizes. Biggest disappointment was I asked for a fork and spoon since I was traveling and they forgot it. For dessert I had banana pudding and it was amazing with the Nilla wafers. I wish I would have got two of them.
The service was amazing as there were two waitresses and they both made sure my soda was full and made suggestions on what to try and what not to try. During my hour there was probably 2 tables and multiple to go orders and they treated everyone great.
Only complaint was no ice with the water but I am sure if I asked for ice they would have gave me some. I purchased 3 bottles of sauce to go. I would go back here in a heartbeat! Bill was about $70 which is very fair for the price of BBQ and $24 of that was for my sauce. No cash accepted which is a...

I’ve been to Jacks BBQ in SODO and had a good experience picking up a fairly large order of breakfast tacos for an event. I was excited to go back for a dine in meal at the SLU location and support local business. However did not end up eating there because of a horrible service encounter. My partner and I arrived and put our name in. The hostess took our phone number and said there was 1 couple ahead of us and they would call. We waited for a half hour and watched two groups who arrived after us get seated. At this point I went in to check in on our status, the hostess said a table was wrapping up right now and it would be probably about another 5-10 minutes. No apology, no explanation, no customer service what so ever. We wait another 15 minutes. I return to the hostess line, wait several minutes unacknowledged by any other staff members. When I inquire why we are still waiting and why we’ve seen several groups be seated before us, the hostess proceeds to tell me they tried calling, stutters a little bit and remains fairly silent as I continue to ask questions. The manager comes over unapologetically with some degree of anger, does not inquire about the issue, proceeds to throw his fingers up, tell me they have been really busy and that if we would wait another 20 minutes he would buy our first round. No recognition of any mistake made, no genuine apology. We left.
Why this occurred? We have no idea. But can only suspect it was because I was wearing scrub pants. I had come from work. I work in healthcare. I’ve been very busy too and luckily do not treat anyone in my path that way.
