Solo Female Adventure in Seattle 🌄 Mt. Rainier is a Must-Visit!

My friend and I stayed at this hotel for a 3 day vacation in Seattle. We chose this hotel because it was only a two block walk from the Space Needle and Seattle Center, and for the two of us it came out to about $150 a night. The close proximity to Seattle Center did prove to be very helpful. However, the hotel itself left a lot to be desired. Firstly, I'll say that the staff was very friendly and helpful and this was one of the positive aspects of our stay. We came into town well before check-in time, and we were allowed to leave our car in the lot and check-in without being charged any sort of early check-in fee. This was great. We were given free bottles of water, and there was also a jug of ice cold water as well as free hot chocolate and tea in the lobby at any hour of the day or night. There is a place to purchase little trinkets and souvenirs as well. The complimentary breakfast is super minimal and really more of a snack. The first day of our stay it included a bottle of water, a bite sized pastry, and a granola bar. The second day they added a grapefruit to this. I do appreciate the helpfulness of the staff and you can tell that they were trying with the little resources they were given. The appearance of the hotel is old and very run down. Parking is either in the front of the hotel or in additional space behind the hotel. It is pretty safe though but it will cost an addition fee per day, and a 22% parking tax is added: Thanks Seattle! When we went the hot tub was out of order and never was fixed during our stay. We had looked forward to using it. However, the pool looked nice and was heated. I believe it is open from 10am to 10pm each day. When we got to our hotel room it was smelly and hot. We had to turn the air conditioner down to 62 degrees to get the room to stay cool. The room was also very loud at night and it was hard to sleep. The air conditioner sounded like someone outside idling on a motorcycle. I could hear various sounds of people walking around at night as well as a guy in the next room snoring. The shower was extremely tiny (see photo) and barely large enough to accommodate an adult. I am 6'2 and could barely fit in the shower with the shower head only coming up to my neck. There was no conditioner in the shower, and the shower gel and shampoo containers were filled with the same fluid. The shower gel container was broken. The shower also seemed like it had a lot of buildup in the grout from years of use and grime on the shower head and dial. Overall, the room was very small and had no decor or amenities other than a TV, small fridge, and a safe. Initially there were going to be three of us on our vacation, but one in our party contracted COVID and could not attend. We were planning to get a roll-a-way bed for the 3rd member of our group but in retrospect I don't know where it could have gone. The room seemed to small to accommodate another bed. Other than the close proximity to the space needle, I think that this place is too expensive at $150 a night for what you receive. $100 a night would be more reasonable. However, it is clear that the management is capitalizing on the touristy crowd and the prime location and therefore sees no real reason to update or renovate their hotel that has obviously not been remodeled in years. My recommendation is to avoid this place and opt for something a little more expensive but that might give you better value.

The only thing these rooms have going for them is that the building is located vaguely close to the Space Needle. My room does not have hot water during the day for showers. When I told the staff, I was told by assistant manager Christine that there was no way to switch rooms until after check in and to come back to the hotel then to switch rooms. When I came back after check-in, I was told by Marcus that they didn't have any open rooms to switch me to and that they could only do so in the morning before 9am. He said to try again tomorrow morning. In the morning, I tried the hot water again and still did not have hot water for a shower. I went to the Christine again, and all of a sudden she had the ability to change rooms for me prior to check-in... So I was lied to that first morning by the assistant manager. The new room had hot water! But the electrical outlet didn't work that the fridge, light, and coffee machine was plugged into. We didn't realize this until the morning, well after our would-be-breaskfast went bad. The floor of the new room was also visibly dirty, with debris underneath the table and previous visitors drinks in the fridge. At $200 a night, the only apology we received was waiving the $45 fee it was to park there (despite Priceline advertising them as having free parking). I'm frustrated that the staff doesn't care that I'm basically stuck between taking ice cold showers or not bathing for days. Only after complaining three separate times, was I moved rooms. It's a basic amenity to have hot water for showers, and I'm really disappointed that the staff doesn't care and tried to push the problem to the next person on shift, going so far as to lie to their patrons. Other negatives are, the old room had noticable black mold and pink mildew in the shower and had exposed pipe in the old room. I heard other patrons complain to the front desk as well. One notable lady complained about having the cleaning staff go into their rooms despite the room having a do not disturb sign in the knob, and steal their phone from their room. They were told they were SOL and that security is only on campus during the day, so they can't review footage until the morning. At $600+, this is unacceptable. I could have been miserable in my car for free. I'm reporting this hotel to Priceline and BBB. This is unethical business practice. STAY AWAY

I booked a stay with this location from March 14th-17th for my girlfriend’s birthday. I was fully aware that parking would be extra(we checked) as I called ahead not only to confirm our stay(I used Super.com) but to check if the hot tub was open(it was).

We arrived at around 12:25PM and approached the front desk to pay for our parking. The gal at the front counter politely asked us if we were checking in, to which I said no. I did not want to pay the fee to check in, I simply wanted to pay for our parking.

The gal said she would check to see if any rooms were available anyways. After taking our info she said our room was ready for check in. I asked if there would be an additional charge(again, I knew this ahead of time as I researched this location) and to our surprise, she said she would wave the fee! We were delighted!

After gathering our things we took the elevator to our room on the third floor(folks who are claustrophobic, be warned, elevators are a bit cramped). We had room 301 which was the farthest room at the end of the hall(we did not mind at all).

Our first impression of the room: clean! The bed, bathroom and counter tops were all very clean and all amenities(cups, napkins, teas, coffee etc.) were all organized nicely! We drove from Portland(about three hours) so we took advantage of the surprise early fee free check in to stretch our legs!

Once we took a good look at the room, we began to notice a few things:

  1. The windows are single pane windows(not experts but windows were quite thin) and already were fogged up from the condensation when we arrived.

  2. The edges of the walls surrounding the windows had black dots and obvious signs of weathering from the moister allowed in from the windows.

This did not bother us as my girlfriend and I are very simple people. We knew coming into this that we were getting what we paid for. We are simple people who wanted simple service.

Through out the weekend, this location proved to be more than convenient and cheap. At one point we both had forgotten our room keys(first time this happened) and the staff had no issues, groans or moans about helping us out. They provided us with a new key and a smile!

If I were to scratch up any complaints, it would be the simple fact that the shower was far too small and the hot water took about five minutes to get hot. Again, we got the cheapest room so no surprise about the shower size(stand up only and any plus size person would be almost shoulder to shoulder touching the shower walls).

Our favorite part? Location and hot tub!!! The hot tub was always clean and hot hot hot! It felt great getting into and was a nice addition to our stay. The space needle is a giant that looms over this hotel! It’s impossible to miss and hard not to appreciate. The entire Center for the Space Needle is less than a five minute walk from here. We went to MoPop on Friday(walked) and we were lucky enough that the Armory was holding an Irish Festival for St. Patrick’s day(also walked) on Sunday!

In the end, we had a great experience at this location! If you keep your expectations simple and don’t expect the world to be at your feet, you’ll have a great time here! The staff is wonderful and helpful! We would return here for our summer visit if the price didn’t jump up so high! Thank you all for a...

I have stayed here two times and each time have had a horrible experience with one staff member in particular. Upon talking to other friends that have stayed there I found out they had issues with the same staff member. My boyfriend and I are currently living in hotels and this has been by far the worst out of all of them. Honestly a cheap motel on Aurora in a bad area gave us a better experience. All the other staff has been great but better communication is needed between them. We checked in with no problem. Our room was right above the pool and our window was open, when we walked in the room smelled like cigarette smoke. Most likely coming from the people smoking at the pool. There were blood stains on the wall in the bathroom and the hallways felt like they had absolutely no ventilation, it was hotter inside then it was out. I had a family emergency in the morning and had to leave immediately so we decided to rent the room for one more night. I went to the front desk and the lady who works during the days offered to help me I said that I had a family emergency and had to leave but that I was booking the room for another night. She said that they were fully booked, but I knew better because she had told me this the last time we stayed there and came to find out they still had availability. I told her there were rooms available on multiple sites and she told me I was wrong. I booked one and it went through, I told it I had made the reservation and that my boyfriend would be finishing up the check in process. She told me she would keep an eye out for the reservation in the rudest way possible and I left. Well my boyfriend went to go get new keys and pay the new deposit and was told we had to leave because our room smelled like cigarettes. I called and told them that yes we smoke but if they run there cameras back they will see us going out to smoke a few times during our stay. She told me that I was lying and that I wouldnt be receiving my deposit back, when I told her I would just come in and talk to management or higher ups then them she told me if I came to the property or called again she would call the police. I don't understand why the conversation took a turn to such an extreme as getting the police involved but Im absolutely appalled at the way she treated me and spoke to me. I have never had such bad customer service in any place I have stayed. The first time we were there as well our room smelt old, musty, and of cigarette snoke. This is completely uncalled for and I wonder if she is maybe pocketing the deposits by the way she was adamant that I was wrong and to drop it or she would call the cops. I approached her in a polite manner even after the experience I had with her the first time I stayed there. I will still be calling management and the higher ups to try and resolve this. She also said we would have to be reimbursed for the room from the website we booked through which is fine but she made sure to check us in and make getting reimbursed almost impossible as I'm still trying to get it resolved after dealing with this all day. If she wasn't a fixture at...
