Dog-friendly day in Madison Park

I ordered takeout from them from uber eats, and they listed a 3 piece chicken strips option that was a bit more expensive then the Children's size so I ordered that since I assumed the children's size was going to be 1-2 pieces. When I picked up the food I found that they had given me the Children's portion which is 2 pieces. I called to double check that they gave me the correct order and the person on the phone was incredibly rude, and told me that they don't even have a 3 piece option, but instead only 2 piece option and give only the children's portions for chicken tenders. If they don't have a 3 piece option then they shouldn't advertise it on Uber Eats and they shouldn't have it on their menu as 3 piece option of chicken tenders and fries. The person on the phone was incredibly rude when I told them that their menu advertised differently and that they need to fix it. Not a single "oh i am sorry, that is a bummer!" but just a curt "yeah?" . I took a look at their website, and the website also advertised a 3 piece chicken tender. So either the person on the phone was having a bad day or they like lying to customers and false advertisement of their offerings. Unfortunately uber eats was useless in finding a resolution. And this was my first experience getting anything from McGilvra's, if this is how they treat customers it will likely be my last.

McGilvra's is an adorable eatery near the waterfront of Madison Park. Parking is accessible, as are the views. The service was prompt and kind; my partner and I were surprised by how quickly we were seated on Sunday. A standout dish included the bourbon lobster bisque, while the crab benedicts and rueben were ok. I loved how crab bisque has strands of crab rather than chunks, which genuinely elevates this dish. Some of the pastrami inside the rueben was slightly overcooked and hard, but the composite flavors are all-on-all correct. The crab benedict was void of crab and drowned by the sauce. However, the accompanying potato wedges were noted to be of superior texture. The bloody mary and a prickly pear margarita were reasonable concoctions that perfectly accompanied our breakfast. Overall, I would return for friendly staff and the bisque.

We’ve come here many times and have always had the same server who was nothing but amazing. We had someone else tonight, and before I start, im a server, i know how it is. Our server took our drink order got our food and got me another drink while dropping it off and then never spoke to us again and sat on her phone and ate right next to our table (we were also the only table in the dining room) My girlfriend wanted another drink and was just gonna wait but then after 40 minutes of her on her phone and eating and having my girlfriend push her dirty dishes to the edge so she’d notice we were ready to head out, we watched her say goodnight to the bartender and leave. Never communicated she was transferring her table or if we needed anything else. We waited another 10 minutes but I wanted to leave so i made my partner go up and ask the bartender to get our bill. If he had the table transferred to him all he had to do was just check and see if we were still doing okay and we just would’ve said we needed a box and our check. I understand if you’re busy and i’d never be upset about that but as a server it takes 20 seconds to ask if we’re doing okay. Super disappointing because we’ve never had a bad experience...

A friend and I came in and ordered some appetizers. I ordered the Beef slidders and a friend ordered their nachos. We got caught up planning somethings and realized we hadn't seen our orders yet. It felt like quite sometime for apetizers so I politely inquired about our order. She looked and me and said "Well I just put your order in 10min ago" and promptly left. Confused, I checked the time and it had been about a half hour since we put the order in. I brushed it off thinking maybe it had gotten busy since we had arrived. A few minutes layer our order showed up.

My fries were great! However I noted that the bread on my slidders were firm (as if it had been hot and sitting out). The cheese on the burger was also rubbery looking, again as if it had been melted while hot then cooled after being left out for a while. The worse though were the nachos. The cheese was rubbery and hard as if they had been melted then left out. The potato chips were pretty bland and also very stale. While the burgers we're decent and the fries delicious, the clearly cold nachos and weirdly defensive behaviour of the staff left me with a...
