I went in not knowing what to expect, only to eat the absolute best slice of strawberry cream cake I’ve had in my life. It was so light and fluffy, the cream rich in flavor but similarly light, not so sweet as to be cloying. The strawberries were delicate and added smooth moments of delicious texture and taste.
It’s not just me: I offered a bite to my wife and she took the whole container from me…I had to convince her to return it to me since she had her own slice of Soufflé Cheesecake! (Also incredibly delightful, and I don’t really like cheesecake.)
I tried a sample of the yuzu lemon and strawberry cakes, and immediately felt the level of relaxation one has when topping off a wonderful meal with such cakes. I had a strong urge to sip a cup of coffee after each bite - exactly as it should be! (I did not order the coffee as I finished one right before entering.) In other words, these offerings are delightful versions of an iced lemon cake, and I would highly recommend them.
The staff is wonderful and patient, and I look forward to returning and...
Read moreDelicious pastries The pies and baked goods are very good. There are several varieties of pound cakes, especially thin pound cakes, but I have never had such a delicious pound cake. Why does it taste like this? I wonder. Maybe the flour is different? Anyway, I could not stop. The coffee is only drip coffee, but it is always fresh, aromatic, and delicious with a nice bitter taste. The baked goods have a rich buttery aroma and just the right amount of sweetness. The coffee matches and balances well with all the pastries. I feel it is worth more than a bad espresso. Also, the cashier lady is always friendly and I like her customer service. The building is old, but the interior is nicely decorated. The store is lined with hearty pastries. They are carefully made. One only has to look at the pastries neatly arranged in the pastry case to understand this. I am very happy to see a new sweet store like this in my neighborhood. This is a valuable...
Read moreDreamy little Japanese French bakery that boasts freshly made cake, financiers, muffins, fruit tarts and more... in quality matcha 抹茶/まっちゃ, houjicha 焙茶/焙じ茶, yuzu flavours! I'm honestly upset that I only discovered it yesterday - it's very much a Japanese bakery/cafe (beyond just Fuji and Nana's) that Seattle so desperately needs, and felt like stepping into a regular bakery in Kobe.
Everything is aesthetically pleasing, from packaging/signage to decor, and there's often small portions available for gifting or larger sizes for parties / group sharing.
Also recommend coming early - I visited around 3pm, and the displays looked like half sold out. By 4pm, most everything was gone. It is a little small (maybe 7+ seats) so it's better as a pickup/to-go spot. But I could see it being lovely as a little intimate, catch up place for friends!
Can't wait to come back to this cute and elegant...
