Where do I start? Let's start with the food since my hunger overcame the atmosphere. I was starving after being too busy for breakfast but didn't have enough time before work to go anywhere else sooo
I ordered chicken katsu. The chicken was good but the rice was dry, never experienced before. The salad, I didn't attempt to eat and that reason is coming in my experience with the atmosphere.
Now, service was ok. I walked in and a female worker was standing close to the door. She immediately went to the back. Then a man appeared. He was cordial. I think it was just the two of them.
Now, I ordered and took a seat in front of the menu which gave me a full view of the front counter and parts of the kitchen. Several things made me want to ask for my money back and just face hunger until I could get something else. Number 1, the was a large amount of the floor behind the counter covered in black gunk. I've been going back and forth trying to justify this and I have nothing. It looked as if something had been dragged through there. Then number 2, The man was in the back and I could see through the curtains, he washed a bowl of uncooked me with the same towel he was cleaning the counters. Number 3, he was refilling the salad dressing, wiped the rim with his bare finger and scrub the excess off his finger into the squeezable bottle used to fill customers cups. Then sucked his finger.
I wanted to record or take pictures but didn't want to cause a disturbance.
Overall I will never eat there again and I suggest...
Read morethis is a god tier shop, and one of the last still good original era teriyaki shops left in seattle. the prices, portions, and quality of the food are like a time capsule from the late 2000s and early 2010s to me. i haven’t tried a single thing from here that wasn’t way better than my expectations
there’s nowhere within a reasonable distance of this place in town that’s remotely this good, and it all costs $2-5 more per item while doing nothing to justify itself
i’ve been a teriyaki enjoyer since a young age, and every place i’d recommend(RIP ballet on pike st especially) is gone. please visit this place and keep it alive as long as we can, it’s both good even compared to the fallen greats and excellent on...
Read morePopped in for dinner - the restaurant is super quaint and run very well! We arrived 30 mins before closing and decided to dine in, and promised to leave upon the hour, but the owner said it was ok if we stayed a little late. Super tasty side salad and the teriyaki chicken was super flavorful!!! Drinks/canned sodas on the side of the cash register. Took about 10 mins to get our food & you could tell it was a popular spot even near closing since 4 other people came in for their to-go orders! Will have to come back and try something...
