This is a super-small spot that's literally just a walkup window, yet when I walked over, it was the only store within a few blocks in any direction with a line. That's Molly Moons I guess
I ended up trying the salted caramel - which was my first time having it. I love Salt & Straw's version, so was interested to try Molly Moons' version to see how it compares It's pretty clearly inferior, in my opinion
It's definitely on the salty side - but not overly so. I like salt in desserts, and this does a good job balancing that line between being well-salted and perfectly salted. My issue is more with the flavor of the ice cream itself. I just don't get much caramel - instead, it basically just tastes like coffee ice cream. I don't like coffee, so I did not like that. The caramel flavor feels very dark, which is where I get that coffee-like flavor. Comparing this the other version, which is much creamier, the concentrated nature of the salted caramel here feels like it went too heavy in one direction while ignoring all other flavors
the texture is pretty great, as always, though for the price of $5 for a kid's scoop - it is pretty small
Overall, I would recommend going with a different flavor at Molly Moons - and if you're looked for salted caramel specifically, try a...

The only real issue I’ve noticed — and it’s consistent across several Molly Moon locations, not just Madrona — is the whipped cream. It often seems old, tastes a bit sour, feels too thick, and sometimes has a yellowish color instead of looking fresh and white. Unfortunately, this really takes away from the exceptional ice cream experience that Molly Moon is known for.
That said, the ice cream itself is absolutely outstanding — truly some of the best I’ve had anywhere in the world. I’m originally from Italy, and even compared to great gelato, Molly Moon’s remains my favorite ice cream. I missed it when I lived in the Bay Area, and I always look forward to it when I’m back in Seattle. The waffles are fantastic, the nuts are perfectly toasted, and the cookies are delicious.
👉 I’m sharing this feedback because I really care about Molly Moon and want to see it improve even more. If the whipped cream quality matched the same high standards as the ice cream and toppings, the experience would be flawless. Also this can be dangerous to eat acidic...
Read moreI am a pretty regular at their Eastside location, this year haven’t made to the shops yet. However I was at this small store neighbor so I decided to stop by. They don’t have typical the popular lavender flavor by scoop. So I got a salty caramel. WOW I really don’t know the inflation really make this scoop of ice cream cost $7.67. I am not sure if there is an automatic tip add to it or not, but I don’t give me a choice to select, but the end cost is $7.67… still taste good, it just became a pretty costly ice cream and the scoop also feel smaller. I like the small neighborhood shop with service...
