The sushi here is overpriced and low quality. Before ordering, I specifically asked the cashier if ground fish was being used in any of the sushi. She lied to me and said no. I only found out when the sushi was brought out. I ordered a spicy salmon and spicy tuna, coming at $17 and $11, respectively. Both had ground mystery fish (you don't truly know what you're getting), and the strips of whole "salmon" on top looked dull grey and not fresh at all. The atmosphere of the place is weird too. Who decides country music is the right thing to play at a sushi restaurant? With ads occasionally thrown in too. They don't give you an empty cup when ordering edamame, nor a small plate for soy sauce! If they weren't charging so much money for old salmon, ground-up fish, and rice, my tone would be different. But the price-to-quality ratio is a joke.

Update! I've been en back several more times since my original post, they are consistent, the food is great. I just tried this place for the first time since they opened, I ordered the Chicken Teriyaki with brown rice and it was great! The chicken is prepared perfectly, and I really liked the veggies and rice too; everything has a very clean and fresh texture/taste. I'll definitely be back, looking forward to trying the rest of the menu.

My first time here and it was delicious. I had chicken teriyaki. Lots of delicious chicken. Teriyaki sauce on the chicken was yummy and there was just the right amount. Loved the side vegetables with sweet mayo instead of the usual salad. Rice was good, fresh and not dry. Service was fast. Great value for the money.

Another great restaurant addition to the Roanoke neighborhood.

This restaurant is great if you'd like a quick bite to eat in or take out, and would like consistent, quality food. The staff is friendly and will take care of you.

O Maki serves a wide variety of delicious, classic favorites from poke, teriyaki, gyoza, boba, katsu, bowls, curry... the point is, there'll be a couple of dishes from each of the above categories, which I prefer to a large menu.

O Maki also serves handrolls!! An item not on a lot of menus in Seattle (I've read through 20+ sushi menus at this point).

Lastly, O Maki has a fairly good alcoholic and non-alcoholic drink menu.

Overall, O Maki makes me nostalgic regarding my time trying new cuisine in Asia as...

I went to O Maki yesterday, and their fish was sadly not as fresh as it used to be. It tasted old and very fishy, which was surprising given that I ordered a fresh (not spicy) tuna roll and one of their most popular deluxe rolls.

I loved O Maki the first couple of times I went, but my last experience with their food was a little disappointing. Might be willing to give them another shot, as their rolls were previously quite good and generous portions for...
