14 Carrot Cafe is located just down the street from my home on Eastlake. I have wanted to check this place out for awhile now but based on the operating hours it has never met my schedule. Recently, my wife and I were vacationing in Arizona and we flew home extremely early the other day. I realized that this was finally my chance to stop by 14 carrot on the way home and get some grub. One thing I always complain about living downtown Seattle is there is never restaurants that feel mom and pop like. I come from a small town growing up and this is something important that I miss. Everyplace in downtown is so modern or tries to be trendy and this isn't always the best especially for breakfast. 14 Carrot Cafe was immediately the place I've been looking for!
The second we walked in I knew I found a breakfast place that would be amazing. We were greated and got to select our seating. Quickly the kind waitress took our drink order and the food honestly came almost 5 minutes after. The service was great and quick. My mimosa was strong in a good way and the glass was large. Of course on an eggs Benny the poached egg is always the determine factor to make or break the meal. The eggs were cooked just right.
Look, if you want a fantastic meal and a comfortable relaxing environment check out the 14 Carrot Cafe! You won't be...
Read moreWent because of all the recommendations from friends about this place.... I wish I wouldn’t have gone. We got sat immediately and we were very excited. But then we got ignored for over half an hour. We even got asked if we ordered, told him no, then still didn’t get helped. Once we finally got helped the waitress was uninterested and rude. Our food eventually came out and we were still optimistic but our food was overly dry and felt like it had been sitting out for hours. Even then we were polite and still decided we weren’t going to let it completely ruin our morning. The last straw was our waitress being so rude. After 30 -40 minutes waiting for our check and not being checked on the entire time we ate we asked for more water as the waitress was thumbing through checks and just rudely threw our check on the table. In the most annoyed voice goes “you need what? More water?” Scoffed and walked away and didn’t bother serving us. As a server for years and someone who supports local businesses, I was appalled. If it was busy, I could have handled a wait. If I was grumpy or rude, I’d understand not trying to be our best friend. But just not doing the bare minimum to serve your customers? That’s a joke. Go to iHOP. I promise you’ll have a better...

Pros: Breakfast Cubano sandwich was excellent and well-portioned for the cost.
Hashbrowns homemade and well-browned - not mushy.
Cons: Gravy (biscuits & sausage gravy) was tasteless and hardly had any sausage. The portions (buscuit size and hashbrown amount) of these relatively inexpensive items were too small to justify the cost of the plate.
Coffee tasted budget & not what you expect based on other breakfast dining in Seattle.
Poor service - we walked in and what appeared to be the manager looked irritated by something else going on and shoved two menus at us and didn’t say anything. I asked “Can we sit where we want?” and she grunted “Uh huh” at me. Our waitress was friendly, but non-existent after brining the food (place only ½ full and plenty of staff). She stood chatting with co-workers in the food-prep area for an extended period of time as we sat waiting to get a box for leftovers and to settle the check.
