Seattle’s first ever street end park also happens to be its most charming. Here you can watch boats go across lake Union, launch a kayak or paddle board, or enjoy the one-of-kind artwork that decorates this park.
There may be times when it’s quiet here, but if the weather is nice, you can count on there being many visitors hanging out. Luckily there is plenty of seating between the tables and chairs closer to the road and the tile-decorated seating near the water. It even has a functioning water fountain!
While you’re enjoying your time here, take a moment to reflect on its history, detailed in tiles behind the park sign (and pictured below). In short, this park was transformed from a junk pit to its current form by members of the community. It survived some arduous episodes but came out better than ever, enhanced by community care all along the way. The tile art was created by a partnership of artist Maggie Smith and volunteering neighbors in 2002.
