I was in there with a friend sitting outside. We had ordered food and drinks and were minding our own business when another patron came to have a conversation with us. When the conversation didn't go his way, the patron went inside to complain to the bartender, mind you he approached us. The patron then came out again with his crew and decided to approach us again while we were sitting outside and minding our own business. My friend then got annoyed and defended himself by simply standing up, while this individual's "crew" stood there trying to intimidate us as we were simply trying to enjoy some time outside and have beers and food. This entire scenario made the entire atmosphere so sour, that my friend couldn't even enjoy his meal. Beyond that, when I went inside to pay my tab, the bartender let me know to tell my friend that he was no longer welcome there. When I asked him to explain, he said, "he didn't have time for any of it." With that understanding, I asked him if the other party had also been told the same "unwelcome" message. Upon simply hearing that, he then declared that I was also no longer welcome. If he can't answer simple questions or address people himself but rather have other people deliver the message, is unacceptable in the service industry. This was a dispute between patrons. A patron who went out of his way to approach a couple of guys who were sitting outside minding their own business, not once, but multiple times. As far as he knew, I was a first time patron. But I wasn't. Myself and my friend had been there numerous times and had brought many others there. They must not need customers if they think they can treat people that way without explaining their reasoning. If that's the case, I...
ย ย ย Read moreiโve lived in the neighborhood for a couple years and up until this last summer (during the afternoon 4 or 5pm) it was a decent place for a drink and pinball. I went to get quarters and the change machine got jammed with my 5 dollar bill. so i went to the bar to let someone know, so i wait to get the bartenders attention. He was taking a couple orders first, I had no problem waiting. I didnt go to the other side and get in line since i was not ordering a drink or food i was there just to play a few games. so after the line cleared a few more people come up and i thought he was going to help me out. so i waited, again no big deal i had no issue waiting a little longer. then he turns to me with his jaw clenched and visibly upset and screamed at me to go wait in line. i quote this cranky old man โif you order at the bar i wont have to run back and forth!!โ and continues to yell at me. I had to fight to get a word in jest to tell him the machine is jammed. then he yells at a guy sitting at the bar to go fix it really aggressively. after getting screamed at i just left. And whats really annoying about all this if i sat in the seat that i was standing behind he would have had to come over anyways. and i...
ย ย ย Read moreOlaf's is a local pub that may look like a hole in the wall from the outside but is full of character once you go in. An interesting layout inside, they always have friendly bartenders and a decent food menu (the tater tots are pretty good). Drinks are relatively cheap for Ballard. There's also a "side" room that you should visit, as you have to venture through a part of the female human body and you'll be taken to a whole new world. Definitely worth a trip and a pretty normal spots for locals either all night or to end...
