I donāt regret visiting this place but I donāt like it enough to come back. I grew up in San Gabriel Valley, outside LA, and I wasnāt a stranger in Orange either. My best friend in high school would often have homemade pho to share when I hung out.
This place just doesnāt have much complexity (herbal, depth, spices) in the broth flavor, which makes it a lackluster bowl of pho. It is mostly salt and umami/beef flavor. The noodles were standard and, like another reviewer mentioned, a little difficult to separate. The meat was a little tough. It was very much average (3 stars; 4 stars = good!; 5 stars = excellent).
To be honest, I would more likely drive up north to Roosevelt area or down to Little Saigon/ID (10 min in either direction) since I am never hit with a pho craving that couldnāt wait 10-15 extra minutes. I wouldnāt be against coming back if a friend really wanted to try it and for some reason could not wait the...
Ā Ā Ā Read morePho Than isn't the greatest cuisine experience ever but it's everything I hope for from a pho restaurant. Food comes out hot and fast, and the broth isn't too complex but it will do when you got an itch for your mom's pho. Their prices are reasonable, and I love that. I've hated the trend of all my favorite foods growing up becoming a weird high cuisine thing that costs a ton of money. Some times you just want a bowl that reminds you of home with the rice noodles still clumped because they were trying to get the food out to you fast as if you're little sister made it for you. I'd definitely come back and would recommend this place. The pictures are of the Pho Ga. This was a medium but it still felt like a lot of food, so I might do a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI'm sure the dining experience is great, but based on takeout alone (which is probably the norm during Covid) the pho is not good. The pho is completely disassembled, and relies on your ability to recreate it yourself. Eg for the steak pho I received completely rare pieces of meat. Very red and tasted like deli meat. The meatball one was better. Very large pieces of meatball tendon and very filling. As a result of soup and meats being isolated, the soup and meat is very bland. I've eaten takeout of pho from Pho Ba in ID (imo the best pho here) and Pho Hoa, and while they still isolate the noodles meat and soup, the flavor is retained. Hopefully their takeout isn't true representation of...
