First, I apologize for the length of this review, but I can't say enough good things about this restaurant.
This place is terrific. This was the second time my husband and I dined here and both times we had great service and food. I have visited Germany and my family is of Polish decent. This food took me back to my childhood. The wait staff are friendly and efficient. The food is great.
First time we went we shared the Schnitzel Platter with side salads. It was the perfect amount for us, though I could have eaten the whole thing it tasted so good. I loved the Schnitzel and my husband favored the perogies. We had all three kinds and they were very good.
This time my husband didn't want to share and we had a hard time trying to decide what to eat. He decided he was in the mood for a French Dip. I always worry because a lot of times the meat can be dry and not have a lot of flavor. Not here. The meat was very tasty and tender. Also, Sebi's doesn't skimp on meat. It was loaded. My hubby had a side Caesar Salad and ate only 1/2 the sandwich. He took the other 1/2 home for lunch the next day, and the server was even nice to bring him another side of au jus for it.
I started with a cup of Red borscht Growing up we always had it with thin strips of beets in a cold broth and sour cream. When I was older I had it warm with lots of beets and cabbage and meat. Sebi's was different and I have to say it was my favorite way to eat it. It was a warm , peppery beet broth with little mushroom dumplings. I could have just eaten that for dinner. So yummy. Then for my main course I had the Hunter's Stew. This isn't your momma's stew. It comes in a bowl filled filled with tons of a mixed meat (Pork, beef roast, ham, bacon, sausage, sauerkraut, cabbage, and mushrooms and prunes (which you can't see or taste)). To top it off the put a grilled kielbasa link on top and a piece of bread on the side for a the broth (which wasn't much but enough to keep everything moist). It definitely had a unique taste but was so good. And there was enough meat to make 2 meals. I took more than 1/2 of the stew and all of the kielbasa home for lunch the next day.
Unfortunately we were so full we didn't have room for dessert. But if you have room get the crepes.
This is a wonderful restaurant with great ambiance and staff. If you are looking for authentic Eastern European food, Sebi's is the place to go. We will...
Read moreFood is pretty okay. Schnitzel was excellent, golubki was amazing. Pierogi were good.
Down sides: The bigos was really heavy on kraut. Kielbasa was more a smoked sausage you'd get at a hot dog place. Borscht had cumin in it.
The worst part? The kraut was marinated with bell peppers. Who does that?
Dessert blueberry pierogi were highly mediocre. Not much filling at all. Dark chocolate shavings do not go well with it at all.
Crepe was pre-made and reheated in the pan. Burned only on the bottom...
The service is also very slow. 2hrs from the time we sat down to the time we left, with the restaurant not packed at all. We ordered 4 dishes plus 2 desserts. Desserts took about 25 min to come out, which is weird considering both should be pre-made.
Looked like only one person in the kitchen?
Also lots of people being turned away without reservations. Recommend making...
Read moreI ordered the snitchel plate plus borst and extremely underwhelmed. There was no gravy or even mustard. The sourkraut was about 2 tablespoons serving for the whole dish and no red cabbage or gravy/mustard like the pictures from reviews showed. The borst was weird. The beet broth pickled the little dumplings inside and they were weird and very dense from being pickled- didnt seem fresh. The schnitzel was just a fried patty alone with no personality and dry. Again no gravy or anything. I told the gal when I ordered that it was my first time eating there so I would hope that I would be offered options like mustard and gravy. I didn't like the other items on plate either. I ordered to go so I had no idea until I got home. There is no option to email Sebi's directly so guess public is my option. $35 on food I will not eat. 🙄 Never...
