I visited UDON at least twice a month. This location on 12th ave has not been consistent in the serving temperatures of their UDON soup. We visited 2/2/2017, it was pretty cold outside. Sadly the broth was "luke-warm". Just remember, during the fall and winter season, people who go to UDON go for HOT delicious food. If your customers are looking for warm food, they can go to Jack in the Box or McDonalds.
I know I've posted a review on Facebook about the need for your consistency in keeping your UDON broth consistently hot in temperature. I am sure you will make the change in the serving temperature. Will it be consistent?
I wish to give you 5 stars, but the lack of consistency in food temperature simply ruins the experience and the flavor of UDON. The flavor of your soup base was very close to the one in Japan. It still has great flavor but is ruined by poor serving temperature.
I used to go to your UDON locations at least once per week. With your inconsistencies in serving temperature, potentially may be losing customers. You could have grown your customer base by simply serving great tasting traditional Japanese UDON that warms both the body and soul. In order to warm the body you need to have a good hot serving temperature.
As always, I trust that you will do your best to make the changes. However, you must ensure consistency.
Good Luck to the owners and future customers who read...
Read moreMy review is going to be pretty narrow in focus (because I essentially get the same order every time), but I feel obligated to write it because I've gone here dozens of times.
As a vegetarian, the Kitsune Soup Udon is what I get every single time, and as someone who hasn't eaten a lot of Udon, I was surprised that such a simple dish was so tasty. Even with the bare minimum of soup, udon noodles and piece of aburaage (sweet tofu), I found it to be a dish I could eat over and over. Then I realized I was being too simplistic, and adding some toppings (especially chili oil), enhanced the dish even more.
I gave 3 stars for the service and atmosphere because it is essentially a buffet style where they hand the food to you across the counter before the register, and the atmosphere is pretty standard for a sit down restaurant. However neither of these things makes the experience worse, hence why I gave it 5 stars overall. The prices aren't cheap, but they aren't overly expensive either, and I feel like I'm getting my money's worth for the most part.
I don't want to say too much because my experience with the menu is very limited, but for my purposes this has been an outstanding Udon restaurant that I keep coming back to again and again. Definitely recommend if you're in the mood for simple, good Udon without a crazy price...
Read moreOverview: Didn't have high expectations when I visited this place but was pleasantly surprised at how good their udon noodles were! This location is pretty nice and they do a good job of keeping it clean despite the fact that the food they serve can get pretty messy. To order, you start by choosing your main entre (udon noodles) and then picking your side items (tempura items, seaweed salad, etc). I really enjoy getting sides which are affordable!
Food: I always get a soup udon. I've enjoyed the Tan Tan, Curry, and Soup udon. The Tan Tan is a very popular one but just be careful because I've had varying levels of spicy despite specifying 3/5 spiciness when ordering - sometimes the spiciness was perfect and sometimes very hot. The Curry noodles were good too but after a few bites I got tired of the flavor pretty quick. Lastly, I've now landed on my favorite which is the regular Soup Udon. I get green onion, seaweed, and a small scoop of chili oil on top and it tastes amazing! Lots of flavor. Also, remember to grab some free tempura flakes on the side to go with your soup! As for sides, I enjoy tempura green beans, broccoli, and shrimp. Occasionally I'll also get some chicken karage, gyoza, and seaweed salad. Don't forget to grab some hot tempura...
