I had about 30 minutes of extra time before my work shift started, so decided to walk to URL Coffee instead of driving to McDonald’s just for the sake of being healthier. Boy, was it the best decision I ever made. I can’t believe this place has been a less than two minute walk away from me this whole time.
They have this magical toast called the Basil Ricotta (I think?), and it has pesto, homemade ricotta cheese, cherry tomatoes, pistachios, dill, and a drizzle of honey- an interesting but delicious combination of flavors. Now, I know that sounds like a lot for a slice of toast, but I chose to order it out of curiosity, even with my previous objections to the “dill and honey” pairing. I’d also like to mention that I’m typically a very picky person, and I already have an aversion to coffee shops because they tend to be quite pricey where I’m from.
However, when I received my toast, I was initially shocked at how beautifully put together it was. Can you imagine- they made TOAST look like a work of art (refer to photo). And the flavor- it was absolutely astounding; I ate it in all in a whole of 6 or 7 minutes.
I also ordered their Walk to Work, which is an iced latte with a sweet foam topping. I added a chocolate flavoring for just 50 cents, and it was the perfect combination of sweet and bitter. This drink was also gone after about 10-15 minutes.
After snapping a photo and excitingly sharing it with my boyfriend, I dug in and found that there was not nearly enough to satisfy me. I wasn’t even that hungry until I first bit into it, and now I’m starving again just writing this and thinking about it. I need more of that glorious Basil Ricotta Toast, which paired perfectly with the Walk to Work. Thankfully, I work in the same building, so I WILL be coming back again for that same combination of amazing deliciousness again.
Anyway, I only write food/drink reviews when I’m truly amazed by the quality of the product. Let this serve as proof that URL Coffee is somewhere you should visit, at least once, if you’re in Seattle.
Edit to add: tried their new avocado egg toast (added photo) and it was even better!! I LOVE the chili flakes and the flavor combo is just chefs kiss...
Read moreIf URL Coffee is a person, it must be an introvert. It doesn't dazzle you at the first encounter, no eloquent speech, no glowing smiles, just a quiet, warm gaze that tells you that you are being listened to. It takes me a while to fall in love with URL Coffee, and once I do, I'm madly so.
What I learned to appreciate more over time is the consistent reassuring feeling that URL provides and the inner peace it brings out in me. The coffee shop has a minimalist look with a warm, beige hue. It's never crowded and usually quiet. Most importantly, coffee is always excellent and service always amicable.
URL has a small special menu that is quite worth exploring. Their "Mischief" is an espresso topped with house made salted cream. Wow, just wow. It's aromatic, creamy, intense and invigorating. URL serves seasonal toasts and sandwiches from Tuesdays to Saturdays, of which I tried mushroom bacon grilled cheese and prosciutto apple sandwich. I like them both and especially the latter, a refreshing yet fulfilling lunch sandwich that has a stimulating and balanced flavor.
URL's owner Ethan and Zoey are reserved and soft-spoken, matching perfectly the mellow vibe of the shop. They express their passion and vision not through statements or expressions, but through their coffee, food, original and intimate decor, and simple but genuine conversations with their customers.
What exactly does URL mean anyway? I am pretty sure it's not the thing we type into a web browser. The shop merchansize suggests it could be "U R Lucky". For me, I feel more than lucky,...
Read moreThere is really no exception when it comes to the qualify at URL’s coffee, food and services. I’ve been going here for over a year and it is absolutely amazing of how they deliver high quality food and drinks consistently throughout the season. I highly recommend the iconic tomato ricotta open face sandwich, there really is nothing alike in comparison to any other sandwiches I’ve ever had, and it’s nearly impossible to replicate that flavor profile elsewhere.
This place is run by absolutely sweet and amazing staff. I felt at home and at ease whenever I’m working or just enjoying my food and coffee here. Everyone is so friendly yet professional at the same time. I can never shut up about this place and would want to bring all of my friends and family to appreciate this beautiful spot...
