I was quite surprised at how little this hospital cafeteria had to offer. Being in a very diverse area, I expected more choices and at least a few healthier options. I have lots of food allergies and usually can find something passable at a hospital's cafeteria when there to be with family but was hard pressed here. The first night 6/19, the air system must not have been working well because whatever the entree was was so overwhelming the whole area with the garlic/onion in the air that I had to breath shallowly, scurry out, and use my inhaler when I left (minus for that). I was able to have their cheeseburger and bun and was happily surprised it had several nice sized slices of ripe tomato and several pieces of crispy lettuce (give them a plus for those) but the meat had a flavor I couldn't place especially since they said it wasn't seasoned (minus for that). Although I was told they had a salad bar there was none to be found. Only a few pre-made salads all of which had an items in them that I was allergic to (double minus). The second night 6/20, I was slightly hopeful I might be able to have the entree salmon but at 6:30pm they were already sold out! Again no salad bar. I left and had my husband doordash me something which should not have been necessary. I don't know how the staff and visitors that need to be at the hospital often survive on the limited & unhealthy menu here. What's even more surprising is my family member's meals from the hospital food service were reported to be pretty good - so is it a different staff - why couldn't visitors have the same variety of...
Read moreThis is in reference to the 3rd floor coffee shop. ** mold in my Caesar salad. So gross! I tossed it and was so irritated by it. My mom has been here for almost a month and I’ve gotten used to packing food but forgot my lunch bag this time around, I won’t make that mistake again. I was advised by one of the nurses to tell them instead of just dusting it under the rug so when I stopped there for a coffee while my mom was having a procedure done today they mentioned that the supervisor Tracy just happened to be in and pointed to her. I explained to her that my salad from a few days ago had mold in it and that I just wanted to inform her so they could let the vendor they get them from, Mel’s know. She looked irritated and bothered by my commented and said they are brought in fresh everyday. She also said that she would do something about it had I saved the salad and showed her. I don’t care about the $6 I was just letting her know. Poor business to treat...
Read moreOn Thursday July 15th I ate tomato basil bisque and a piece of cheese pizza and came home and ate a snack because I had to take a snack with the medicine an instantly had diarrhea. Not snack is nothing that I've eaten out of the norm. And it was a package snack. I've continued to have diarrhea immediately the three times I've eaten anything I took Imodium AD about 27 hours ago. I've been afraid of drinking anything. I just ate two pistachios about half an hour ago and still afraid of eating anything. Of course I've been hydrating drinking 64 to 72 oz a day. It should be noted that I am on a strict diet because I have cancer. But I did ask the person serving the food in the cafeteria about my restrictions. So I think I did get a little bit of food poisoning. Just making whoever is in...
