Emilou's Cafe — Restaurant in Sebastopol

We have become coffee snobs. We even got an espresso maker to start making our own. However, we are still on a mission to find the best cup of coffee (latte or cappuccino) within a 15-20 mile radius of us. Due to the AMAZING reviews of Emilou's especially the one saying that Emilou's beats Retrograde (we were just there 2 weeks ago and loved it) we knew we had to give it a try. Plus we love to support small local businesses.

Customer Service: Amazing. Friendly.

Atmosphere: It's very tiny inside and barely fit our party for ordering so you would have to sit outside. We were already planning on taking it to go, but based on the uncomfortable metal chairs outside, we would not go back to enjoy it there.

Food/Coffee: My son enjoyed his hot chocolate so that's a plus. They also didn't make it too hot so he could enjoy it right away. As far as the cappuccinos, we ordered 3. They were all horrible - bitter, tasted burnt, not creamy, lack of foam. We all took a couple sips and had to throw them away as they were not drinkable.

I hate giving bad reviews especially for small businesses. But when someone has the highest stars on Google out of all the coffee shops around you have high expectations on the quality you will be receiving. We either hit them up on a bad day or people have really bad taste in coffee. I thought a honest review on the quality was needed to help people make a decision on...

This place!!!! Gratitude for this magical gem! I absolutely love this place! Everything is homemade and infused with LOVE LOVE LOVE! Emily is an amazing Herbalist who makes the very best of everything. Tinctures, Tonics, Chai, Teas.... Baked goods pastries. Lucas is full of charm!

I had the Herbal Mocha (brewed with roasted roots with reishi and maca added) and it was delightful. It was a rich and earthy bouquet without being bitter like some similar drinks can be. My barista (who I think was Emilou!) was very kind, and gave me some guidance on where in town I should check it because I haven't been in Sebastopol since 2007 and it's changed a LOT since then.
