If I could rate a zero stars I’d definitely do that. While the food was just ok in overall flavor, everything else was such a let down. Get ready for a whole novel here.

Where do I even begin, first of all do NOT I repeat DO NOT allow the 4.5 stars fool you. These people clearly have absolutely no idea what “authentic” Mexican means. Yes the decor is pretty spot on, but the food, not even close. Again, the flavors are basic, literally you could make this at home and perhaps even better. The place is cute the younger girl working there was kind and helpful. I wish I could say the same for the older women, they were rude and bothered with even the slightest question asked. For example we asked about purchasing a side of mole for a taco we ordered, mind you there was 10 of us in our group and we had already spent $300 on our food, the older woman was bothered that we asked because she didn’t know the code on how to ring us up for it. The attitude was awful, the place is tiny and the food is definitely NOT authentic. Not to mention the tiny portions for a $25 dish left us flabbergasted. So many other negative things to say about the food, like the soggy vegan tamale, the stale tortilla in the enchiladas, the child like portions, the extremely sour Jamaica and way overly sweet vegan horchata. Just terrible. Stuffy, horrendous vibes from the women. You’re way better off making food yourself or getting some burritos at Taco Bell, that’s the level of authenticity we are talking about here. Trust me we know flavor and this was NOTTTT IT!!

RESPONSE TO YOUR REPLY While we completely understand family emergencies and truly feel for you that this happened , we are also there to enjoy a meal with our family and to have been treated poorly with a bad attitude after we are spending so much money here is just not ever a good luck for any business. There are many many negative things we didn’t post. The prices are ridiculous for the amount of food and poor service. We truly hope you all get...

I will have to say, I was the only one who was not thrilled with the food here. There were three of us and my wife and so thought the food was good and I just did not.

A few details, this is a counter serve restaurant that is fairly small. There are two inside rooms and one outside room and the views are BREATHTAKING.

Service is friendly. The restaurant is clean. Price range is solidly in the $$ category, in fact, for what we got it was downright expensive.

But the food MM, what about the food?

Chips and salsa - salsa was thin, but packed a lot of flavor but the bowl of chips were so small, we had to order another bowl for $3 more dollars. Guacamole - really good, but like the salsa, a tiny bowl of chips just was not adequate. Jarritos - my son is a huge fan of Jarritos, so he was happy. Chicken Burritto - good, not great and served Ala Carte. No Carb Beef - proclaimed best dish of the night by my wife, and she is picky, very picky. Chiliquilies - vegan dish, lacked flavor and was soupy. Tamale - vegan dish, hot as fire - way too hot. When I brought this up the owner said it was sometimes mild and sometimes hot, they could not control it. (No offer to refund even though I only took two bites) Black beans - heavenly good Rice - a tad bit dry, okay desert conditions dry.

I think for me, getting excited about a restaurant that bills itself as Vegan and not delivering or accommodating just made this a bad experience for me. Again, my son and wife enjoyed it, but I really had one of the worst vegan food experiences I have ever had.

On a BUDGET: Get one of that dishes that includes rice and beans and opt for tap water.

Want to SPLURGE: Get an appetizer and a Jaritto and make...

Our whole party is in awe of the reviews here! What??? Are they getting paid to write reviews?? As a picky, vegetarian, I check out spots before getting to our vacation's spots. My lovely hubby does as well, to alleviate any drama. To our surprise, we both had this on the list for lunch, which means it was a GO! BTW- I would eat Mexican food every meal for the REST of my life if I could, it's my favorite. 1st impression: walking in was, interesting, after waiting, we checked in and were given a buzzer to order once it rang. Instead of getting a buzzer to get your table. Okay, strange, but whatever. Once we were seated outside, service was horrible. The busser, and server, blew up at this older couple as they were leaving. He screamed, " You better go pay for that soda!" The whole patio stopped and listened, the poor woman said, " we paid when we ordered." He continued, to argue with her, and she continued to say they had already bought the SODA. Listen it's a freaking soda, you do pay for drinks when you order, and omg even if they didn't for some reason, it's a SODA. The whole patio, which was full, seemed as put off as we were. Then, our food arrives. $21 dollars for 2 vegetarian enchiladas which were literally the size of 2 corn tortillas, (if you don't know, that's about a 4-inch tortilla.) I LOVE spice, and had asked for extra salsa, they wouldn't even give it to me initially. Our chips and salsa were $6, for no more than 8 CHIPS!! I would never, ever, ever recommend this place. It was horrible from the 1st minute we walked in. They have to be paying people for...

Blink and you'll miss this place as you drive by. It's a family run Mexican restaurant that is known for tamales. The limited menu focuses on fresh and natural ingredients and claims to be authentic. Seating is somewhat limited but there was plenty of room on our visit. The restaurant was busy but not crowded. You order at a counter and pay before you receive your food which makes tipping seem pointless, but they ask you to do so anyway. Portions here are very small for a Mexican restaurant and I think I ate the rice and beans that came with my burrito in about five bites. The burrito itself differentiates itself from most typical fare by including queso fresco and spinach which was a nice change. My wife had a tamale which she said was very nice but also a bit small. She had a hibiscus tea with it which she liked, although it was pretty pricey at $7. The kids both had burritos, one chicken and one shredded beef. They both were happy with them but said it wasn't as good as the one we had the day before. I thought it was a nice change from the typical Mexican food you normally get everywhere but the portion was pretty small for $22 and it was cold in the center. I know this is Sedona and they like to fleece the tourists but lunch for four for $105 is pretty egregious. Anyway, the food tasted good and the outdoor seating had a nice view, but I'd like a bit more value for money and I'd like to get my food before anyone asks me for a tip.

Excellent experience at Tamaliza Cafe. This staff sure knows how deliver quality comida paired with excellent service. Their tamales are on point with a few options including Veg! If you want to beat the crowd around Sedona but want to have some of the best Mexican food in the area than this is your jam. The mole chicken was also well prepared. The staff are very friendly with only charismatic and energetic demeanor when you approach them. My girlfriend and I had a great view of north Sedona and the beautiful evening sunset casting on the red Rock formations. You could say that this location delivering r the choice tamales of the area is somewhat of a vortex . The flavor energy fields are pulling and the guacamole will have you crying for more chips! So if you're in the area go ahead and give these guys a peep and keep community alivee by stimulating some tamale purchases Also if you are trying to avoid the busiest restaurant in town known as Elote Cafe ( which is also 🔥) than just show up to this spot around 5 and feel like you're in a local jam spot in southern Arizona. Also practice your Spanish up and challenge yourself by ordering en Espanol. Vamos! The green salsa has a beautiful amount of spice mixed with some excellent balance of and lime! Also you can get orders of a dozen of tameles for the holiday season which would be an easy way to impress your local holiday party guests

My husband and I have been wanting to try this place for a few years, so we were so happy to stop in for breakfast today. We had read great reviews and we're happy to try it for ourselves - and it did not disappoint in any way! We stopped in between the breakfast and lunch rushes (around 1030am), and found the whole place to ourselves. The asthetics were the first thing that piqued our interest, it was so cute and quaint with many colors inside. Next was the kindness of our server, who made us feel right at home. This place really feels family-owned, which is hard to find nowadays. Obviously the best part about our experience was the food! ❤️ We ordered 1 pork and 1 chicken tamale supremo, and they were some of the best tamales we've ever had. My husband is one of those people who if he sees people selling tamales out of their igloo coolers on the side of the road, will stop to give 'em a try because "that's where you get the good homemade stuff from", so we are usually a bit skeptical of tamales in restaurants, but these were incredible! The supremos are slightly pricey (~$20 each) but definitely worth it, and in Sedona, that's pretty typical, and the Supremes are filling-- but you can also get it without the toppings for $10. The Maza used is also made in house, and tastes so fresh! 10/10 highly recommend. We will certainly be back next time we're in Sedona!
