Tortas de Fuego has been my familyās go-to place for Mexican food ever since we moved to Cottonwood. Their food has always been very good. Unfortunately, though, we havenāt been there as often as usually did because we donāt feel that the quality is the same. After a long time, we finally decided to have lunch there today. My wifeās tacos were tasty, but my beef fajita, a rather large plate on the menu, basically had no more than a few pieces of meat. I have to say, they do k is how to use a grill and their portions are generous, but it wasnāt the case with my fajita. The vegetables were very tasty, but again, it really was an almost meatless plate.
My wife insisted we let our server know but I felt like insider want her to feel she has to deal with it and maybe get in trouble because of a ācomplaināāwhich we really didnāt want it to be so she wouldnāt have to be in the middle. As awesome as she is, she communicated with her manager about serving us a portion of beef. She came back feeling even worse to let us know her manager basically didnāt care. She did offer us to take $5 off our bill, but one can tell she was feeling that exactly as I suspected she would if I said something at that point.
A manager should be the one facing the customers and making them feel they want to come back. Our phone number is in their customersā list. There is no way they (the manager) canāt tell weāre not frequent customers. Many of my friends and students have come to eat their food upon my recommendation. I feel that Tortas de Fuego Cottonwood should change their customer retention strategies soon.
This is not the whole story, but I decided this was really the most important thing to share about for anyone reading these reviews looking for helpful...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreNo one loves Mexican food more than I do and I wanted to love this place. I saw 4.5 and convinced my wife to let me try it.
I was starving so I ordered beef fajitas. My wife wanted breakfast and Iām not sure why she ordered a cheese quesadilla which was 12.99
Okay I get this is Sedona and the world we live in now and it did come with sour cream and guacamole and it is large and it was fine I personally wish it came with pico
The place was busy and there was a steady flow of customers. I felt bad for the servers. It was just too much and our service was fine just slow and I get he was doing the best he could. Clearly they needed a host or a third server
But that is not my issue the price and service happens
My issue is my fajitas which were not bad but I felt like they boiled the meat previously and just flash heated them with vegetables that were not fully cooked
Fajitas are good when everything is cooked together. This plate tasted bland and like boiled meat.
That being said I enjoyed the three tiny salsas which helped add some flavor but it was a tiny amount of salsa for a big plate
The fajitas while not bad were just not exciting. Bland no passion and not what you expect from a 4.5 rated restaurant
And I could see the cooks. They seemed like cool guys as did the servers so Iām confused by the entire experience
My guess is we just ordered the two wrong things. My advice is to not order beef fajitas
Arizona used to be a place for great Mexican food now I can eat at cheese cake factory for the same price and not leave with my...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFellow veterans and those with a service dog BEWARE! We have eaten here twice in the past and the food was amazing! When we walked in tonight the MANAGER (of all people) rolled his eyes and stated "follow me". He took us to a booth and proceeded to read me the riot act about strict rules that the dog needed to stay completely under the table and could "touch nothing", he further stated "cannot come out, cannot touch table, cannot touch plate, cannot not touch fork, or anything". I was completely speechless, but only for a short time. I asked if he thought the dog was going to jump up on the table and eat off a plate, I said "It's all good, we are clearly not welcome here." As we were walking away he stated, "these are the rules". I appreciate your rules, however the previous time I was there with my service dog, it was no issue at all and we were not treated any differently than if we did not have a service dog. Look at my other reviews, of the many I have done, I have only done positive reviews to help out great businesses. I did notify him as we were leaving that I would be writing this in a review to warn others. He stated "Don't care, I told you rules". Message received, we were an annoyance and not welcome. I added a picture of my service dog laying under the table at the Asian restaurant right down the street where we were treated very kindly and didn't have to be lectured to about rules. I wonder if rules exist for other things at this restaurant and if patrons are subjected to hearing and agreeing before we they can...
