Really, really wanted to love it and leave a rave review. The decor is great. Sitting outside was so just lovely. Everything was peaceful and relaxing. Unfortunately, you cannot eat 'the vibe', and my party overall just really did not care for the food.

My dish (dosas) was pretty good. But I don't think anyone else liked anything they got, and we all ordered something different. (Actually, I was told the kids oatmeal was good.)

My rating is based purely on this above info, but I'll provide more feedback below, just for educational purposes.

One issue I have is that you have to order at the counter. I don't mind pre-paying, but this is something I really wish they would change (i.e., not being able to order table side). They were super busy and we had to wait standing in line for a bit (probably felt like longer than it was). Because of this, I felt rushed ordering, as there were other people waiting, and it was a long line.

This counter procedure also makes it difficult to ask questions about ingredients, which is my biggest concern with that.

I stupidly assumed that if they listed an ingredient on their menu for some of their dishes that said ingredient would be identified for all applicable dishes, but this was absolutely not the case. As a result, I had a pretty serious allergic reaction and had to leave. (I was very close to having to go to the emergency room but managed to get it under control.)

TO BE CLEAR, I take responsibility for this. They didn't know I had the allergy, so they cannot be blamed for my exposure.

However, I do very strongly feel that their ordering setup is not conducive to being able to ask questions like this, which are a necessity.

I will say that when I returned and asked them about their ingredients (I had to wait in line again but needed to make sure it was not a new allergy), they were very nice and knowledgeable about the menu and offered a substitution suggestion on at least one of their dishes. (The ingredient I'm allergic to is unfortunately VERY pervasive in their menu, including unexpected items, so even if I genuinely loved their food, I probably would not come back, due to the risk.)

On a related note, when you go to pay, the tip options they give you are 30%, 25%, and 20% - in that order. I'm all for supporting small businesses, especially animal friendly ones, and we always tip very well (usually 20% minimum and up), but given that this is primarily a counter-service operation, these tip options are genuinely excessive, IMO.

They bring the plates and clear the dishes, but they are otherwise not serving you. You wait in a line to order and pay, you get your own silverware and cups of water, and they don't check in on you to see how things are going or bring you refills, etc., etc.

This is definitely not full service, so suggesting tips that large - up to twice the 'standard' 15% - for LESS service, comes across as greedy, tbch.

If you aren't making enough to pay your staff adequately, you need to change something about your business model. I'll be honest, this was a pretty big turnoff, given the...

From my first visit to ChocolaTree Organic Eatery in Sedona, it was clear that this place was going to be a recurring destination for me. Having dined here three times, I can confidently say that ChocolaTree is not just a restaurant; it's an experience that transcends dietary preferences. Even if you're not a vegan, you will find yourself thoroughly enjoying the culinary delights that this unique eatery has to offer.

The food is nothing short of fantastic, with a menu that boasts a wide array of organic, gluten-free, and entirely plant-based options. Every dish served is a testament to the creativity and passion that goes into vegan cooking, making it a standout in Sedona's culinary scene. The flavors are rich, the portions generous, and the presentation beautiful, ensuring a satisfying meal every time.

But what truly sets ChocolaTree apart is its ambiance. The outdoor patio is a bit of a sanctuary, offering a serene dining environment amidst lush greenery and the gentle sounds of nature. It's the perfect place to unwind and savor your meal in peace. Inside, the restaurant is equally charming with several cozy nooks and crannies that provide a warm and inviting atmosphere. The decor is eclectic and full of character, reflecting the eatery's commitment to sustainability and natural living.

In addition to the dine-in experience, ChocolaTree has a wonderful selection of goodies that you can take home with you. From handmade chocolates and desserts to healthful snacks and organic produce, there's something for everyone to enjoy beyond the restaurant visit. The staff are always friendly and knowledgeable, happy to share information about the menu items and the benefits of a plant-based diet.

ChocolaTree Organic Eatery is more than just a place to eat; it's a destination that nurtures the body, mind, and spirit. Whether you're a committed vegan or simply someone who appreciates good food and a beautiful setting, ChocolaTree is a must-visit in Sedona. Its commitment to quality, sustainability, and community makes it a true gem in the heart of Arizona. I can't recommend it enough and look forward to my next meal in this...

The best place to stop in when visiting Sedona 💯 Stopping in for the food, an elixir, trinket, herbal supplement, or crafted item made by a local isn't even necessary to visit this amazing spot as the art, music & garden are magical enough. ✨ This is an experience that transcends material & is transformative for even the most mundane of individuals. No matter your journey there will be something here that awakens something within you. No doubt Sedona is a magical place which helps to feed into the magic of this place. ❤️ It's rare to find a place that has all organic food but to find a place that also crafts 100% of its own food? All gluten free too! Unheard of, but Chocolatree Organic Oasis truly embraces that word 'oasis' as it's a place to unwind and recharge from the chaos the world can spin around us. 🍴 So the food has a little something for everyone. I will mention here that there is a Mexican and Indian theme to the menu that ranges from the enchilada and quesadilla to the Dahl soup and dishes accompanied with various chutneys. But there are pizzas and some other goodies I'll let the reader discover on their own. 🌀 The service is top notch here. Authentic conscious humans trying to make a difference through service to whomever passes through. Nothing fake in the greetings and well wishes, just a shared vision of clean air, fresh water, & a garden for all children to walk on in this new world we are co-creating. 🕉️ The vibe here is all inclusive, everyone of all races & ethnicities are embraced and loved! I mention this specifically because there is wonderful art showcasing the divinity & richness of many cultures the world has bestowed upon us to this perfect point in time. And rather than being divided on topics of religion and sectarian beliefs, a deep reverence is had for these various symbols and pictures here that have the ability to bring us together rather than divide us.

Can't say enough good things about this...
