I’m really torn on this one. When I moved to Sedro Woolley, I was happy to find a relatively pleasant Mexican restaurant. Nothing fancy, but nice enough for an everyday meal. The food was good and plentiful, service reasonably fast and courteous, and the space was clean.
One night, during our move, we stopped in, grateful to find food that didn’t start with the word “fast”. We were exhausted and starving. There were some diners there as we walked in.
We were seated at a table where we couldn’t see the other people. We place our order and receive our food. Everything is fine.
As we are nearing the end of our meal, a waitress comes out and rudely tells us that we need to get done because the wait staff is all there just waiting for us to finish and they’d like to go home at some point.
Please keep in mind, we are a table of 8. We weren’t dawdling. We weren’t just hanging out. We were literally just finishing up our meal. We could hear people laughing and talking around us as they had been when we arrived. Apparently, that was the wait staff goofing off and the other diners had left.
If someone had pleasantly let us know they were closing, we would have torpedoed our way through our meal or gone to one of the fast food places that are open practically all night.
I did post a review of this elsewhere back when it happened and I was immediately contacted by the owner who was very apologetic. He offered for us to come back and ask for the manager and gave her name. She would take proper care of us. The trouble is, I’m not so sure that manager wasn’t exactly who had been so rude with us.
So...I’m not really sure how to rate Lorenzo’s. The food is decent. The owner was fast and pleasant when he found out. The wait staff leave something significant to be desired.
I’m giving them a one star because I’ve never been back. The fear of what could happen to my food before I receive it if I had asked for that manager has kept me away.
**edited to add:
The manager of this location did reach out to me here, and I am now confident that she was not there the night of the above event. I’m hoping her response shows up here so you can see for yourself, but I appreciate her response and may...
Read moreWe hyped ourselves up for Lorenzo’s for nearly 4 years (was hoping to go with family that never came up) and finally decided to try it after our 14hr road trip back to the area. That was a mistake, apparently. The 2 stars is for good portion size and friendly service. The lack of stars is for the following:
Much to my utter disappointment, I ended up with food poisoning, and now I can’t work on the projects I came up to do because I’m married to the toilet. Not sure if it was the ground beef in the tacos (there was recently a recall), which I had NO idea was the filling for their “beef tacos”, as that’s NOT authentic Mexican food; or if it was improperly washed/handled lettuce or tomatoes (also, was not expecting those ingredients). To me, the only “authentic” things about the food were the corn tortillas and portion sizes that abuela would be happy with. When I ordered beef tacos, I was expecting traditional carne asada with onion, cilantro, and maybe lettuce. Not Tex-mex colonized food…I guess it makes sense why they’re so popular in the area, given the demographic. I even asked and paid extra for the whitewash sour cream and didn’t get it, lmao.
Now, I can’t speak to any of their other food, but there are traditional named dishes on the menu and it does give me hope that there are some authentic plates available for the local Mexican & Latine population. I guess I didn’t pick right, but I also feel as though when a place prides themselves on authenticity, I shouldn’t be getting ground beef tacos for $20+ that aren’t much better than Taco Time’s 3/3.99. I’m so bummed.
Probably best to try something that isn’t a combination- you might fare better than I did. I would say, “maybe next time, Lorenzo’s,” but my poor tummy says,...
Read moreWe are regulars of Lorenzo's known the family for ever. They even catered our wedding. My husband and I moved out town to AZ so when we are back visiting Lorenzo's is always on our list of places to go. We went last night for dinner and the service was TERRIBLE! We were in a group with 5 adults 2 kids. Someone came for our drink order and then they like forgot about us. It was another 45 mins before they took our order and at this time my MIL still hadn't gotten her Pepsi. Then from us ordering it took another 45 mins for our food to come. When it came they brought out 3 plates. Another 10 mins 2 other adults got their food but the kids food still hadn't come. We had to re ask for ranch for adults food at this point which took another 5 mins or more to get and the container we got wasn't even half full. For the kids we ordered a grilled cheese and a taco for them so something very simple and doesn't take a lot of time. We run down a waitress and are like can you check on the kids food. Come to find out they made the wrong kids meal. About another 10 mins goes by and they bring out the taco and the wrong kids meal of chicken strips complementary. 10 mins after that comes the grilled cheese. Of course by this time the adults are all done and the kids food is smoking hot and can't even be eaten. We never even got refills on water or drinks. My FIL ordered chili Verde and the meat was old and didn't taste good like normal. The rest of the meals were good but the bad service totally over shadowed that. I'm very disappointed in this. We used to love going here and now we probably...
