Papa Johns Pizza — Restaurant in Shallotte

I have lived in the Shalotte NC area for 8 yrs and have ordered from this Papa John's many times. It takes a lot to cause me to write a bad review but after many times with problems with this establishment I feel I need to. On many occasions my order would arrive cold, burnt, the whole pizza or pizzas shoved in a pile on one side of the box in a sloppy pile. All these times I and my family just made the best of it. We have an oven or microwave to reheat. Although with the price and ofcourse the 20% tip I always have given the driver it has become quite a very expensive dinner. The last time I ordered will be my last time. I ordered an extra large thin crust pizza with extra cheese and three other toppings. I went on line prior to ordering for a coupon code which has I applied to my order charge. The coupon was honoured and deducted rom my bill..( no problem) When pizza arrived I signed ticket gave the driver my standard 20% tip and thanked her, I took the pizza inside and to my dissgust the pizza was the size of a medium and the toppings I could have put on the palm of my one hand with room to spare. I then called the store and got an appology and told that this is the size of any and all thin crust pizzas????? REALLY.. This is not noted on their online order system. We did eat the MEDIUM PIZZA it somewhat fed us four adults..thank God I had made a large salad. I then was so upset that I went to their website and left my review which was answered in a couple days. Saying pretty much as I stated here. Other than that now I am affraid to order from them because I'm not so sure I'd receive a CLEAN PIZZA. I have a real fear of returning food as I have heard many times what can take place to a reorder. I usually just leave the restaurant and go elsewhere. All in all I feel Papa John's has the best tasting pizza when its made with pride and care. But I don't and won't order from this store again. And that's unfortunate for me as this is the only one. I will have no other option but buy from the grocery and prepare myself ..I can buy 5 DeGiorno for what this one pizza cost me never...

I used to be a GM for Papa Johns in Florida, and even made it to the national level for the Global Pizza Games, so trust me when I say, that tonight truly blew me away. I never order pizza to judge the quality or service, but it’s hard not to notice some things.

The first thing I noticed was the quoted wait time of something to the effect of 45-55 minutes, which is within reason, and I’ll always understand why. But what truly stunned me was when I got the notification that the pizza left the store around 15 minutes after I ordered, and I was half expecting that maybe they clocked it out early to help their csc or other metrics, or for the quality to be subpar. But Within 25 minutes I heard a knock on my hotel room door. And if that wasn’t the greatest thing I heard all day, let me tell you about Jay’s service. Truly wonderful team member you guys have. Very professional, looked happy to be working, was extremely polite and friendly, and hit every part of the door show (great job👍) and he should train all your other drivers.

Now here I am with a hot pizza, that got here so fast with great service, and the last thing to worry about is what’s on the inside. I open the box, and let me tell you what, that manager Fredrick is not only pumping those pizzas out fast like lightning, but he’s making them 10’s. Truly phenomenal work. And like I said, I’ve done pizza games so I know a ten when I see one.

I’ve had more Papa John’s than I think one should have in their life, and this was probably the greatest experience...

I have tried to call repeatedly and speak to a manager and have been told this number is temporarily unavailable? What?? I had a very nasty encounter with a delivery driver yesterday. Sunday, July 27, 2025 I specifically put no contact and left a note saying please leave food by the door. I had also paid and left tip when I ordered online. When I realized the delivery driver was at outside I open the door to see if there was a problem and he proceeded to yell and cuss me out saying WHAT THE HELL MAN! ( repeatedly ) and say CAN YOU NOT HEAR???? IS THIS YOUR PHONE NUMBER?? CAN YOU NOT ANSWER YOUR PHONE? Call didn’t come through. I tried explaining to the guy I had left a note but he didn’t want to hear me out and kept saying WHAT THE HELL MAN! Mind you I was home with my 2 year old ( he was startled hearing all this commotion ) and my cousin.

….. P.S. - I’m very disappointed with this delivery encounter because when I usually do carryout the employees are actually nice...
