Finally coming down from the wedding high and getting around to showering our vendors with much deserved love. I need to shout from the rooftops to let all of the ‘Burgh know that if you haven’t had BCB yet, you are absolutely missing out. When we decided on an untraditional wedding vibe we knew we wanted to go the food truck route. When we discovered Old Thunder Brewing as the space we wanted for our venue, and Josh told us they had Bridge City already scheduled on the books for the date of our wedding, we were excited because we hadn’t had them before. He passed along their information, and I knew from the first email response back we had found our guys. On top of feeding all 70+ of our guests, I also had a vision in my head for a “grazing table” to be open during our cocktail hour. I asked the guys at Bridge City if they thought they could put something together, but never in a million years did I expect what I saw when we walked in there. It. Was. INSANE. (We haven’t gotten our full professional album back, but when we do I will make sure to upload and tag. In the meantime, here are some behind the scenes of us CHOWING down and the grazing table spread they waved their black and gold wand to create. ) As for the grub? Well let me just say that hands down it was the most talked about aspect of the wedding. Our guests congratulated us, followed immediately by “holy hell this food is amazing” - all night. Then there is Joe and Mark. Joe and Mark are now family. I’m not sure if there is much more that needs to be said about what awesome guys they are. Not only do they throw down in the kitchen… er truck?… but they are just GOOD people. Talking with them at the end of the night was a highlight of my wedding day, getting to know what means the most to them, the energy they put into causes that are close to their hearts, and the philosophy they have behind their food and business was amazing. There’s no rating or number of stars that could match them. And if you haven’t yet, you need to...
Read moreWent after a Pirates game and was very excited about earing here because of the stellar reviews. We arrived about 6pm and they were out of more things than they had. No big deal, I understand it gets busy and it affirmed that the food must be good. For the items they had left my buddy got the triple 916 burger with an egg and fries. I love a good rueban and the gentleman at the counter said they had one left so I ordered that with fries. We also had the chicken skins and 2 bottles of Mt. DEW. The price with a 15% tip was over $70 which was shocking but I'm still thinking it must be worth it. Now I will say my buddy loved his burger but the Reuben I had was unfortunately the worst one I ever ate. Now the menu did say it was thier take on the Rueban but I didn't pay attention to that because I had to think quickly because they were out of everything else I wanted. I don't like to bash establishments and leave nasty reviews but I think a 3 star review was fair. The Rueban was some kind of brisket that was a little too fatty and it overpowered all the other ingredients on the sandwich. Maybe I'm more of just a traditional guy when it comes to my Reuben sandwiches because Pittsburgh has alot of great places that serve that sandwich. Maybe if was able to order what I originally wanted this review would of been much different. Also the price of everything had to come into play when making this assessment. I hope the best for The Brinery in thier future success but today I was...
Read moreWe went to the Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium today and decided we wanted to try a local place near the Aquarium for lunch and not eat at the Aquarium. We are from NJ and wanted to try Pittsburgh places. We found The Brinery after doing an internet search saying it was close to the zoo. It was me and my wife and our 11YO son. My wife got the Pork Belly Sandwich, I got the the Greek, and my son got a smashed cheeseburger. Boy were we glad we went to the Brinery. My son enjoyed his burger and loved the shoe string fries and he gave it a 10 out of 10. My wife absolutely loved her pork belly sandwich. I also had to try her Sandwich which I would have to say it was awesome. My Greek sandwich also was great and I ate it all, but my wife’s pork belly was so good as it was so tender and tasty. Don’t let the unassuming look of this place fool you because the food is top notch and everything we had was extremely tasty. The Chef which I met truly knows what he is doing in the kitchen and it’s not a surprise that he won all those accolades my wife told me about when she was reading about...
