We recently dined at Uncorked, a newer restaurant in Pittsburgh, and unfortunately, our experience left much to be desired.
Upon arriving at 7 PM, the restaurant was completely packed, creating a lively atmosphere. The live music was a highlight of the night, and the crowd appeared to be an older demographic. However, from the moment we sat down, service was noticeably lacking. We waited nearly 15 minutes before our server even acknowledged us, and an additional 45 minutes for our appetizers to arrive.
As a young queer couple, it was evident that we stood out in this environment. Initially, we chalked the slow service up to the restaurant being busy, but after placing our order, we noticed a shift. Our server’s demeanor changed after seeing us holding hands she became curt, unwelcoming, and barely checked on us throughout the meal. When she did, she was dismissive and never once offered a smile.
Unfortunately, the food did not redeem the experience. For appetizers we got the roasted carrots and fresh bread. While the flavors for both were amazing (seriously get those carrots!) our food was cold to the touch. The salmon was dry and lacked any real flavor, while the lobster mac and cheese was more akin to a seafood soup drowning in a bland cheese broth. To make matters worse, it arrived cold. The restaurant ultimately comped our entrées, but by that point, the damage was done both in terms of the food and the treatment we received. We ended up heading next door to Dino’s Pizza to salvage our night with something satisfying.
Despite the poor service, we still tipped our server $40. While we understand that restaurants can have off nights, the level of indifference and what felt like outright discrimination due to us being a queer couple from our server was unacceptable. Given the great music and potential of the venue, we had hoped for a far better experience. Unfortunately, Uncorked fell short in both hospitality and...
Read moreMy dad loves jazz and google recommended Uncorked when I was looking up places to go. Had never heard of it, but we enjoyed our time. We went for an early Father's day. The pasta with mushrooms and cream sauce was one of the best I've had anywhere in a long time. It was basically an Alfredo. If you enjoy Alfredo, you'll def want to try it. All our food was delicious. We bought a few things and shared them family style. We had the mushroom pasta with cream sauce, tacos, spinach ravioli, roasted carrots, meatballs, bread and oil, and cod. The only thing that I would change is asking for some toasted pistachios to add to the honey roasted carrots and for two or three crafted non alcoholic cocktails on the menu because a few in our party don't drink. All small personal things, though.
It was a busy and beautiful Sat, so parking was a bit of a challenge, and service could have been faster. There were long lags between drinks, waiting to order and them checking on us to refill drinks or helping to remove dishes, a bottle of water to refill our drinks didn't arrive until we were just about done eating, but they were very friendly and we felt welcomed. The food was pricey, and you order everything a la carte, but the taste made up for it, and the portions were a nice size. The side salad was enough for all four of us to share.
We made a reservation, so there was no wait. The music was good and my dad and family really enjoyed it. That was the most important part. We're already...
Read moreOverrated. The internet hypes this place way over what it's worth. The venue is very tight and small on a full night and unless you are right in front of the performers you cannot see them. They have a TV with a cam on them but if you are truly going to watch the live entertainment this dosent suffice. We was greeted by a hostess that looked like she just rolled out of bed with her hair not brushed in a tube top and saggy sweatpants barely staying on her. We ordered a charcuterie board for 35 dollars that had the same cheese placed a few different ways, with meats and fruits. No jams, no honeys, just an odd bit of mustard. I asked for a martini that took 20 mins to get to me and was made poorly so I sent it back. The waitress told me before that one reached me they had made one prior to that was incorrect as well. So im assuming the bartender skills are lacking. I had the lobster mac and cheese which oddly still had shells all in it. My gums are hurting as we speak. My friend ordered the squash raviolis which only comes with 4 mid sized raviolis in a bowl all for over 100 dollars. One and done...
