Jake's Place — Restaurant in Shawnee

Meet up with some friends and their family from out town for dinner tonight. We started off with onion rings as an appetizer. These onion rings are big!! They are hand battered and fried to a perfect crispness. I had their Ribeye steak special. It comes with a small salad and big baked potato. The steak was cooked perfectly and seasoned well. My friend and two others ordered the egg rolls. Very flavorful and fried to a nice crisp. The sauce served with them was kind of sweet at first then the heat kicked in. Then last person ordered the tuna sandwich. It was piled high between the bread with perfect amount of mayo and seasoning. Service was great. Even the owner Janine stopped by our table to see if everything was alright and chatted for a minute with us. I love supporting local restaurants. Food was good, though being less than half full i didn't expect it to take over half an hour for a single burger and chips and cheese. The waitress kept forgetting about us and would take 10-15 minutes for things like refill. She was very sweet, though they clearly need to hire more people to assist her.

However listening to a drunk party, growing increasingly louder in the hour and 20 minutes it took for us to get our food and check, screaming conversing about how the poop in their camper really set the mood for wanting to eat and having no one who works there tell them to knock if the literal shit talk while people are trying to eat or to stop screaming it so everyone in the place could hear, they just ignored it.

Drive by Jakes all the time so finally we decided to try. We went at 4 so it wasn't very busy. Decided to try the Open Face Roast Beef for the Friday Special. We also got the appetizer plate. It came with breaded mushrooms, mozzarella sticks and jalapenos poppers. Everything was good but the star was definitely the open faced roast beef. That thing was huge. I expected less being the special to be lighter. Loved every bite. My wife said the margarittas were very good. My daughter got Buffalo wings. She liked them but said the Barbq would of been better.
