I really hate writing this, but I believe it's necessary for the sake of the company, I do not eat at Red lobster except on a very rare occasion, I'm spoiled because I'm used to eating seafood right on the Gulf Coast or fresh right off the boat, but we decided to go to Red lobster and I didn't want anything fried I wanted it grilled, so the plate that I ordered which was the only plate on the menu that was grilled was shrimp salmon and lobster small lobster tail salmon and a skewer of small shrimp, sides I ordered steamed broccoli and a baked potato, we ordered calamari which I knew it would end up being a big mistake and it was, I put the call amari in a to-go box and my wife asked me what was I going to do with it and I said I'm taking it to the ranch and I'm going to feed it to the catfish in the pond so at least I get something out of it, When my plate of food came first thing I did was took a bite of the broccoli and it was absolutely horrible and I spit that out Yes I did, the baked potato was so small it wasn't much bigger than a silver dollar and I put it right in the palm of my hand which I will post a picture of, the salmon was supposed to be grilled but it was grilled on a hot plate imagine that so it was hard on one side and the lobster which was split in the middle like it should be, and I tried the shrimp and it did not taste like grilled shrimp it didn't taste like shrimp hardly at all and the salmon steak did not taste like salmon and the lobster did not taste like lobster, what it all tasted like was garlic butter which was all over everything which totally dominated and killed any flavor of the seafood, I pulled the lobster out of the shell they did not bring any butter for me to dip the lobster tail in I presume that they figured I had enough garlic butter on it for everything that I didn't need it, the problem with the broccoli was it was freezer burned and I mean seriously freezer burned and you could not eat it so you can imagine what it tasted like, I know that they're trying to come out of bankruptcy from last year and I hate to have had to write this but if they don't get this right they're not going to come out of bankruptcy, and I hope they do I don't want to see any business go under but to serve a plate of food that's supposed to be grilled and it's so horrible you can't even eat it is sad, my plate look like a tornado went through it I was looking for something that I could eat I ate the potato I ate the two pieces of the lobster tail, and I ended up dipping it believe it or not in cocktail sauce or at least I think that's what it was in that little container, the waitress was very nice very polite attentive it was not her fault that she had to bring out that type of food. So with that being said I hope other people have a better experience than I did but I'm just telling the truth that's what it was and I will post a picture of the baked potato that I held in the palm...
Read moreWe have been to many Red Lobster restaurants. This one was probably one of the worst we've been to. I can say our waiter HONESTLY TRIED to be efficient but still lacked many qualities. The bad things: the stuffed mushrooms just weren't the same as we've had before and even tasted a little fishy. I personally ordered a NY Strip with a side Rock lobster tail, my Mom ordered the steak and lobster special (Maine lobster). Our food was brought to us, and my lobster was the same as Mom's. I asked about it, the waiter apologized and said he'd fix it. When he came back, he brought me a 2nd Maine lobster tall. I explained to him that I didn't order the Maine lobster & that I was supposed to have a Rock lobster. He again apologized and said he'd correct it. By the time I finally got my rock lobster, I had eaten half of my steak, and over 30 minutes had gone by, so needless to say, I was nearly full. I did take a bite of the Rock lobster (I can't say I've ever had one of these before but it was yellow compared to the Maine tail being red). The rock lobster had like no flavor and the Maine lobster was amazing and a much sweeter flavor! When we got our bill, I had been charged for the NY strip & lobster dinner plus an additional lobster, so for a 2nd time, I had to try to explain to him that he had my order wrong. He then got the manager and she questioned my math, thinking the way our waiter had rung everything up was going to be cheaper than the way it should have been. My bill ended up $68 versus $104. Grrr. Not only was the addition wrong but after a 30 plus minute wait for getting the incorrect lobster, in my opinion, i probably should have been given a free lobster, if not an entire meal. For those that know me, I'm pretty good at math, lol. Also, while eating flies were HORRIBLE and we were constantly having to...
Read moreKeep reading because while I start off a little condenscending and negative, there's a twist, I promise. Normally I would have given this place about two stars. I come from the east coast and I was born and raised eating fresh seafood so this place doesn't compare to fresh caught seafood. Everyone knows by now that everything they serve starts frozen, becomes thawed, gets seasoned, then grilled... the experience is usually bland and disappointing considering the menu prices reflect that of fresh seafood, but that's not why I'm posting my experience today. I brought someone with me that had not really tried seafood much through her life and wanted to give this place a shot and I'm not going to be so cynical that I'm going to tell her "oh this place isn't fresh" or "this place doesn't stand up to Coastal restaurants" because let's face it she's in the middle of Shawnee Oklahoma, a landlocked state in a dinky little town where it's amazing that there's a seafood restaurant at all. So anyway, the service normally would be so so, disinterested wait staff who've had to deal with two dozen or more miserable customers and unsympathetic management but once, just this once... we got an amazing young woman who served us, Kaytlin. If rude customers haven't run her out by the time you read this then by all means go ask for her, she's bright, articulate, witty and funny and just happened to bring us our food too. Be sure to give her a big tip (no I don't know her personally and this is not a ploy to get her more money), you should always tip your wait staff if they do a good job way more than they would ever expect. So thank you Kaytlin, you brought this place from 2 stars to 4 stars just by your attitude alone. We...
