Shawnee mall, like all surviving malls, is hanging on by a thread. But for what and where it is, it's doing alright. It was clean, comfortable temperature, the plants are kept up well. There are a lot of empty stores but they have a Bath and Body Works, Shoe Dept., Vintage Stock, Hot Topic, The Buckle, Claire's, Journey, Mrs. Fields, the movie theater, the rolled ice cream place, Sakura, a steakhouse, an arcade, a Mathis Bros store, Ross, a few other clothing stores, that big sports store, and some types of stores. I didn't notice if the candy store was still there. They did have a Zoltar fortune telling machine and I cannot pass one and not stop. They have the animals that you can ride (okay, one was Santa Claus and that's kind of weird. Who wants to ride a Santa like a horse?). I digress, the mall is okay. You're not going to find a vast wonderland of shopping, but it's good enough for a small trip. The parking lot is an absolute nutso bananas nightmare though. Sheesh....

I give our recent visit to the Shawnee Mall Dillard's a 3-star rating, because of the colorful and engaging associate to the right of the South entrance. She was very helpful and personable. Her engaging type of personality will increase Dillard's customer traffic, which will ultimately increase their bottom line.
In fact, her approach to customer service should be the "gold standard." Dillard's can become the anchor for the Shawnee Mall. In my various shopping experiences in locations from City to City in different States, when Shopping Malls & Stores are crowded, it seems to make customers and employees alike...grumpy. I mean, raise your hand if you enjoy turning a corner and end up bumping head-on into someone, or worse - small child that ends up hurt, because the aisles could stand to be wider since the stores believe "it's ok" to stack merchandise on the floor. The stores Layout needs to be rethought, improved, with better functionality. Needless to say, I do not shop there unless all other possibilities have been exhausted. If you must shop there, don't get in a hurry, because by the time you leave, you'll be so frustrated, and the whole shopping experience will have been so unpleasant, that you'll be wishing you'll be ready for a glass of Wine or a nice Cold...
