We come to Sorrento often as it’s local for us. We’ve had good experiences here in the past. Tonight was the worst customer service I have ever experienced at a restaurant ever.
Their posted closing time is 9:00pm. We walked in the door at 8:19 and were met by the manager, a middle aged woman, in the foyer. My girlfriend is a district manger for a restaurant chain so we are very cognizant of the workers. I asked the manager if we were good for dinner out of courtesy to let her know that we were aware of the time and that we wouldn’t be loitering after dinner. The expected response was “Yeah. You’re good. We still have 40 minutes” or something to that effect. What we got was “We close at 9” while staring daggers at us. We walked in and looked at each other like “What was that?” The manager followed us in and since she didn’t answer the question I asked again. Same look and she said “We close at 9. Just so you know” hen walked away without even entertaining a response.” It was very clear that we weren’t welcome there and we both took her response to mean we would have to be out at 9 pm regardless. Even if that’s how she felt, a little customer service in explaining it would have gone a long way.
The hostess was sweet and greeted us but it was clear we weren’t welcome by management. We walked out and found that the doors were now locked 40 minutes before they close.
Look, if we walked in at 8:50 with a sense of entitlement and ordered dinner, I get it. Truly. This was 40 minutes before closing time. We would have been done with dinner by 9. The absolute disrespect and dismissal by this manager was unbelievable.
If you don’t want people coming in between 8 and 9 make your hours until 8 and let folks who are there enjoy their meal.
We will never be back. I would rather drive for a half hour than to be treated like this again. It’s a shame too. We really...
Read moreI just left the restaurant. The atmosphere was nice; there were hardly any people there. The waitress was nice. I ordered a Portabella mushroom for an appetizer; waited over 25 minutes for it. It was sizzling because it just came out of the oven covered in cheese; Chunks of bread and seafood stuff it was hard to eat because I didn’t know what I was eating the textures were all weird; some crunchy , some overcooked & some room temperature!!! I couldn’t even cut into the mushroom it was so overcooked and rubbery. Then came the lasagna, it was disgusting. There was grease coming up from the bottom of the right side of the dish only; So much cheese covering the lasagna; under normal circumstances that would be wonderful; but from the experience with the mushroom, I decided to investigate and lift up the layers of the lasagna. The temperature was lukewarm at best in the middle and the meat was like clumped together. It tasted like reheated lasagna. I had maybe three bites and after the noodles tasted like they weren’t even cooked all the way through ; I stopped eating it and pushed it to the side. The waitress was nice enough she did her job with a smile. However she never asked me how anything tasted; Because I believe she already knows how it tastes; It’s disgusting. I can get better food at Fazolies; A fast food Italian restaurant, I expect more from a sit down family Italian restaurant that I paid $25 for food I had bites Out of d/t Inconsistencies with the cooking, food textures and just the overall taste. Very disappointed! The best part of the meal what the diet Pepsi...
Read moreSo here is the deal. We were on our way back from Cleveland. We had not had dinner yet. My son suggested Sorrento's. We had never been there despite having driven past it on the highway dozens and dozens of times. We were quickly seated which was nice. It took longer than I would have expected for our server to show up. Once he did, he took our drink order. Upon his return he took our food order. My wife and I decided to order the Margherita pizza. My wife loves that style. Once the pizza arrived, things went south. After looking at the pizza we had to ask the server what kind of pizza it was. She claimed it was a Margherita pizza. It looked like a simple cheese pizza. There was no fresh mozzarella and no basil anywhere to be found. How could that have been a Margherita pizza? It had way too much cheese, and there was no basil anywhere. Margherita pizzas use fresh mozzarella sparingly with fresh basil on top. It was an abomination against Margherita pizzas. If that is Sorrento's Margherita pizza it was not even close. The taste was just a simple cheese pizza. The crust was too thick. There was no basil. There was too much cheese. It lacked any real flavor. I would stay away from Sorrento's Margherita pizza if I were you. I can't imagine I will ever be back. Just wow! The three stars I gave it are specifically because of that Margherita pizza. Maybe if I ate something else, things would have been different. ...
