Kashmiri Kitchen Indian Restaurant — Restaurant in Sterling Heights

Couldn’t ask for a better first time experience! I’d never tried Indian food before so didn’t know what to expect or even what exactly I was looking at on the menu. When I explained this the staff asked a few questions and then made some suggestions. They were more than helpful and answered several questions that I’m sure even their toddlers knew already. They did so with smiles and without making me feel stupid so they scored points with me before I even got my food. Decided on chicken Marsala and Kashmiri Biryani and both were amazing. Nothing could prepare me for so many different flavors I’d never had before but I was instantly hooked. I tried the Marsala first and thought it was really good, but was confused because I had always been told Indian food was spicy and I wasn’t experiencing that. Don’t get me wrong, the dish was still excellent I was just expecting some heat and wasn’t getting any. Then I tried the biryani. This was my favorite of the two dishes as it was packed with flavor and spicy goodness. It’s a different spicy then I’m used to though and I’m not great at describing, but it didn’t taste like hot sauce on top of something or even chili/cayenne powder mixed into the food. You know what those flavors are and can tell when someone adds more just to up the heat. The biryani wasn’t like that at all, more like incredibly flavorful with a natural spice that permeates everything and keeps you coming back for more. Flavor first with a spicy afterburn that I found so enjoyable I questioned why I waited so long to try it. As this was my first experience with Indian food I have nothing to compare it to but I can say that the food was amazing and I’m going to be trying a lot more in the future. So I thought about now doing this because I NEVER want to cut off someone's blessing/ source of income but I'm disturbed by what happened. I've been here OFTEN, last time I went had just finished eating when I reached for the beryani and noticed a big black bug looked like a smaller version of a cockroach. anyway I had to take a second because I didn't want anyone else to notice I just pointed at it to the waitress she just simply took it and went to the kitchen and they offered to make a new one. I told them we just want the bill I wouldn't like a new one. She brought the bill and my partner was going to pay the full thing and at the last second we didn't even say anything cuz again we didn't want to be rude but she's like I'll just give u 10%. In my opinion I think it should've at least been taken off the bill. I went home and could not sleep from the worst heartburn of my life. I was truly sick. It's not even about the money but it really just goes to prove they did not care to keep the costumer that comes often just that one time transaction. I recently had the pleasure of ordering at this restaurant where I was able to sample the briyani chicken and lamb, and I must say, I was thoroughly impressed. From the moment I took my first bite, I was transported to a world of flavors, where every bite was a symphony of spices, herbs, and meats.

The chicken was juicy and tender, with a mild heat that complemented the rich and fragrant flavors of the briyani rice. The lamb was equally delicious, cooked to perfection and full of flavor. I was truly amazed by how well the spices complemented the meat, creating a harmonious balance that was both satisfying and delicious.

The staff at the restaurant were equally impressive, with a level of professionalism and kindness that is often hard to come by. Special mention goes to Raju, who was truly amazing and inviting. He went out of his way to make sure that I was having a great experience and was a fantastic ambassador for the restaurant.

Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an amazing meal.
