Choco Mania Cafe — Restaurant in Sterling Heights

Eh. It’s not really worth the price. We spent $40 on two items. The Dubai strawberry cup and the strawberry cake and cream thing. The gentleman who seemed to be in charge was very kind. He was very sweet and informative about their products. I would come back if the prices were lower but I can’t justify spending $40 on two dessert treats when dinner is the same price for two. I know there’s people out there who can afford to spend $40 on dessert but even if I could it’s not really worth it. We’ve had the Dubai strawberry cup in NY for $12 and it tasted better and it was almost 1/2 the price of the one here. It was my first time having this strawberry cake thing, the presentation was beautiful but it was mostly like a “cool whip” center with some strawberry puree and “cake” (I say cake in quotations because it was the flattest cake I’ve ever seen) all dipped in a candied chocolate that again cost $20. They do have other menu items such as milkshakes, ice cream, smoothies, crepes, coffees, exotic snacks and sweet treats. If they lowered their prices we would love to come back and try other items but again, $20 on even a crepe is insane when the ingredients to make one is about $5 (I’ve made many a crepe before, I’ve also had crepes in Europe and even they don’t charge this much). Maybe there’s something I’m missing and they get ALL of their ingredients from across the ocean and they charging us the gas and plane prices to get them 😭 but it was cute inside and the staff was very friendly.

P.S. my friend almost got these two bags of Swedish candy until he said they’re $90 each! So beware that if you’re going there for these candies specifically...

if I could give no stars I would. first my friend orders a small ice cream that come with 2 scoop, I order shortly after a small ice cream and a crème brûlée. She receives he ice cream as I wait for my order, as she was eating she discovers a hair submerged in her ice cream. She went back up to the counter, and as a solution offered her another ice cream, of course one that she wouldn’t want after finding a hair. She then asks for the biscoff dessert, which was a dollar more and instead of just trading her dessert, made her pay the difference! How are you going to have a costumer pay for another item after proving your health standards aren’t high. She pays for the dessert and then we leave after I receive my items. We arrive to my friends car where I open my icecream, third bite in there’s a long strand of hair submerged in my ice cream. I walk back inside the store, where not one employee is wearing hair nets and I go to the counter where I waited for an employee to help. The girl who had helped me prior came, along with a man that had jeans on that were way too tight, he accused me of putting the hair in the ice cream, I am 17 and have nothing to gain out of your business, me and my friends just wanted icecream. Secondly, it was along straight hair, i have curly hair which was eveident when i walked in the store. they then say all they can do is offer me another ice cream.Why would I want another after finding not one but 2 hairs in 2 separate bowls of icecream I had just purchased. I am so disappointed cause I truly loved this place. Terrible service and terrible health standards are set here....

Just want to start of by saying I was really surprised at the decor given this is a dessert spot! Good quality chairs and tables. Even couches to Lounge on with a group of friends. Menu is extensive. Rolled ice cream, crepes, some baklava, sundaes - a dream. I was greeted and told to order whenever ready. As I ordered I got to watch the rolled ice cream and crepes being made. (Fun for kids to watch). I also love business’ that can hire young kids to get a work ethic (lol). Prior to writing this I chose to read all the other comments. A few people complained about price. Personally I felt they were very fair, and this is why. I ordered a breakfast crêpe which included cream cheese, strawberries, and strawberry sauce, I added peanut butter. Every single piece I cut out of my crêpe had strawberry on it. Not one place I can think off the top of my head would include this much fruit in one dessert. Same for the person I was with as well. Also, we have to understand that this is a “social media” dessert place. Everything you get is going to be over the top and extra. It’s meant to be extra. It’s meant to wow! I can tell this is a small business owner and I couldn’t wait to come home and leave this review because I truly am proud. Seeing them busy on a Monday night and getting great quality food was exciting. Best of luck. I’m sad I didn’t try the gelato. Going to have to...
