Checkers — Restaurant in Shelby

Looking for something quick as you’re passing through? This is not the place for you. The food is really good but the service is so awful it’s not worth it. This was our go to spot every time we pass through Shelby but it just seems to get worse and worse so our most recent visit will be our last. Usually we’re the only ones there and somehow we still end up waiting 20-30 minutes for our food. More times than not we have to pull around so they can bring the food out to us (important to know for the next part). The last time we went, we tried ordering ahead to try and help move the process along as we knew we didn’t want to add on time to this drive. Well, when we arrived we were very surprised to see there were actually other people in the drive through line, so we tried to go inside to get our pick up order (we already paid) but they still haven’t opened the inside since Covid. So we waited about 10-15 minutes and the line only moved one car (there were 5 in front of us). We then saw a worker come outside to talk to another car, so we asked her if we had to wait in line for our order since we ordered ahead and paid, she s then confirmed that it was ready and sitting there but she would not bring it out to us, we had to wait in line like everyone else.. so we sat in line about 15 minutes and not a single car had moved so when we got up to the order box we explained we were the preorder but we’d like to cancel the order (I tried to cancel online but it said I needed to contact the store-which I told her) but she said there was nothing she could do for us. So we sat there stuck in line for about 30 minutes while our food had been paid for and ready the entire time. We ended up leaving cause we still had 3 cars ahead of us, and went down the street to Taco Bell where we were in and out in 5 minutes. Glad we finally learned our lesson and won’t waste our...

First visit food was good - service fair. (Same person as described below) Second visit - WOW! 😩 First bite all I noticed was how salty the burger tasted. As for the service. Hard to hear the person on the speaker from inside. It must have been hard to hear us too. (Giving server the benefit of doubt.) We ordered large fries, she put in small, didn't order tea but was charged for one, $7 for 2 Buford burgers. Charged full individual price. When we mentioned we didn't order a tea (server after saying, "You did I punched it in") then closed the window put tea down and TURNED HER BACK ON US. My husband had to knock on the window to get her attention again. She had another person open the window to finish giving us our order. We never raised our voices, cussed, crabbed, asked for a refund or anything. We said, "Since you already charged us for a tea we'll take an unsweet." She had punched in a sweet. Came here at about 7:52 p.m. through the drive-thru I ordered a burger ketchup only, meanwhile they put ketchup mustard and pickles on the burger which is something I did not request, fries, tenders a drink and the funnel cake fries which I never received the funnel cake fries. I then just called the store to just ask him if they would be able to refund it to me and they were persistent that they handed me two bags which they did not I only received one bag. There would be absolutely no reason for me to lie about something like that simply as it's such a small little item but the fact that the manager lied to the crew member that was on the phone with me about me receiving the funnel cake fries is a little ridiculous the first time and last time ever coming to this company.
