One can't go wrong choosing a restaurant that has over 1,000 4.5 stars, right?
From the outside this restaurant looks like it belongs to the small 1950s inn that it is attached to. I'm still not sure if they're one in the same.
Regardless, we walked in to be promptly greeted by the friendly staff. Piping hot coffee was served and magically refilled endless times. We had just come out if backpacking the Brothers and we were ravenous.
The food came out quickly considering that there was only room at the bar. All other seats were full. We asked to move away from the air conditioner when a booth became open and we were obliged without a bat of an eye. Although I asked our server for her name I have forgotten it now but her service was impeccable. She is a slender woman with dark hair and tattoos.
The food arrived and the toast was buttered perfectly. If you prefer dry toast make sure to ask for that up front. I ordered two eggs over easy and corned beef hash with homestyle potatoes. My husband ordered chicken fried steak and sunny side up eggs with the hash browns. Both dishes were cooked to perfection.
Our friendly server reminded us that they make several types of pies from scratch daily. We chose the coconut cream pie and our friendly server handed us an extra large slice because as she explained it was too small from which to make two slices out of it. It was just the right creamy deliciousness we needed to round off our hearty breakfast.
As a side note, but important in my mind, the restrooms were spotless. They had an interesting set up with two toilets set side by side without a divider but inside a locked area. All I can think is that it would be useful when toilet training a child or for two close friends/siblings who are used to using the toilet together? Not sure, but regardless what matters is that the toilets and sinks were spotless.
This little restaurant was the cherry on top of an amazing backpacking trip. We will definitely stop in again when we travel through the area either go to the Washington Coast or when visiting the endless backpacking...
Read moreGreat food, great price, great service... Mostly. You may be asking if everything is great. Why am I giving it a bad review? You've heard the term one bad apple can spoil the whole bunch? In this case, one bad apple has spoiled the whole dining experience and his name is Jimmy.
We found Blondie's about 6 months ago and have been regulars ever since enjoying the reasonably priced comfort food and friendly wait staff.
About a month ago, we had our first bad experience with a "bus boy" named Jimmy who was helping out getting our drinks. I drink a lot of cream in my coffee and so I explained that when I ordered coffee to drink. He comes back and fills my coffee cup to the top. My husband said, I'll take that one because I like mine black, but could you leave room for cream in hers? So he fills the cup about an inch, slaps it down on the table and says "is that enough room for you??"
We left and did not return for a month. Deciding to try again, we went and they were very busy so we were waiting for a table to open up. A big table of 12 got up and left and we were patiently waiting by the door for them to buss the tables.and rearrange them. The same guy orders my husband to "come move the tables". At first we both thought he was talking to one of the other workers, we looked around to see who he was talking to. Then realized he was ordering my husband to help him. Not, Can you please help me? Or would you mind giving me a hand?
We won't be returning. This kind of rude and unnecessary behavior has ruined the entire experience for us. I feel bad for the rest of the wait stuff because they have been fantastic!
Before leaving this review I left a note for the manager asking for a phone call to discuss my experience. Unfortunately, it appears that she is not interested in addressing...
Read moreOk the food was really good and well made! It would have been much better if served to us hot instead of cold. I think this restaurant will be good after ‘growing pains’ and has lots of potential. We walked in and waited to be seated. After about 5 minutes the girl finally looked up at us and said to seat ourselves, even though there were no signs about seating. The waitress was super sweet and nice and put in the effort. However the food took 30 minutes to arrive and we were there at 11 am on a Thursday, not busy at all. No one ever came back to check on us or refill the water or soda. When we needed more napkins we went and got them ourselves. It felt like they were short staffed or overwhelmed or just not up to speed yet. When the food arrived cold, we didn’t want to wait another 30 minutes so we ate a little bit and took most of it home to heat up and eat later. One interesting and notable feature-the booths are very very wide. The table was at least 18 inches from me on the seat and I am not a small person :) so I had to shimmy up to the edge or else each bite was being carried long distance from the plate to my mouth. I wish there was this much room on an airplane seat. I am including a picture in case this helps anyone and/or sometimes seating is too small. Over all I might try this place again in about 6 months and hopefully it will be more...
