This establishment should be renamed "Deplorable Buffet".
I can't stress this enough for anyone that wants to eat chinese food: Don't eat at China Buffet in Shepherdsville, KY.
Aside from the empty atmosphere with decor that is beyond dated and no music in the background, the food was anything but appetizing. If anyone dares to think otherwise, they're in denial and don't know how good food is made.
Where do I even start? The vermicilli was undercooked, the soups were salty and lukewarm, the meats were lacking in flavor, the hot sauce was watered down and was mostly seed extracts, and half of their food was visually beyond dry that it looked as if it sat there beyond a day - I can't process how this restaurant is still in business. I'd rather eat frozen Chinese food from a dollar store - the chefs should be ashamed of themselves for serving such mediocrity to its customers for $9.70.
Prior to my last visit, it seems everytime I went in there to give it another shot, the quality of the food seems rather lacking - as if they're not made fresh. Granted, it's a buffet (an industry that's been in steady decline for a good while), but that's no excuse for subpar food quality. The staff were rather cold, yet only "hospitable" when they wish to act like it - as if they regret working there. And the less I say about how the bill was handled by the staff, the better. I can only say though that when we were handed the bill, the waitress insisted that we pay immediately rather then letting us "enjoy" the food. Obviously, I didn't leave a tip for them because the waitress (and the staff) don't deserve it. These days, anyone can just go to the sit-down restaurant, China Garden, for better food and friendly service.
Unless the owner revamps the restaurant in which the food has good flavor, the staff is much friendlier, and the atmosphere is revitalized, don't bother eating there - ever. You'll be saving your taste pallete and...
Read moreI never bashed a restaurant before, but I feel it's my due diligence. It's actually the right thing to do in this circumstance. When I was 18, I dine n ditched this restaurant. I was a dumb punk then, but I should have done that again tonight. I am 30 with a wife and children now. Wife and I had a chance to go out on a date, so for some reason that her and i will always regret, we chose to go to here. Doors look like the entrance to an apartment building. No real Chinese decor. No music. Nothing. Just flies and obviously old food. Old and cold. Not alot of options either. We still ate because we're idiots. Anyway, there this other family there, and one of their children threw up. Which is not anyone's fault, except I suspect the restaurant's. But the lady that cleaned the vomit off the floor proceeded to hand out cups and stack plates and everything. And I'm telling you these people don't wash they hands! Not alot of English either, which I'm not saying everyone HAS to speak English to operate a business in the US at all. It's just a detail. $31 for my wife and I. Honesty kind of expenses for a buffet, let alone such a horrendous one. Seriously. Horrendous. Never again will we go. We're expecting food poisoning to set in any minute. Someone please do something about this place. It's not right to...
Read moreI have ate at this restuarant numerous times and I feel each time my experience gets worse and worse. I get the fact that its a buffet and service does not have to be great but the staff are very rude and unfriendly. It would be nice to walk in and be greeted with a smile, instead they harldy acknowledge the fact that you are a paying customer nonetheless a human being. The food is not fresh and you can tell has been sitting out all day. The taste is just that as well. The seats and tables are always sticky and when they do decide to wipe down the tables its with a bucket of mucky water that probably leaves the table more dirty and unsanitary then it already was. Im done giving this place my time and money. I didn't realize there were new owners but it all makes since as we used to love this place a while back. If you want a good Chinese restuarant go to China 8, the food is amazing and they are very nice people. This buffet wont last much longer as the past couple times we have been there which should have been busy days were dead with only probably 3 families eating. Dont waste...
