We went to this restaurant for the first time recently and based on that experience, there won't be a second time.
We were seated at the table directly in front of the door and cashier, so traffic around our table was constant, with people allowing their kids to be right up against our table, leaning over like they were looking at our food. Not a pleasant thing to deal with when trying to eat.
In the first minute and a half after our food was delivered, 3 different people came over to ask how things were. Imagine just barely getting your food, trying to take a bite and each time an employee interrupts you mid bite to ask how it tastes. Way too overbearing. I'll admit our waiter was very attentive but during the whole meal it seemed he was coming over every 5 minutes. When trying to eat a meal, I would like to be given the chance to eat without constantly having to reassure the staff that my meal is fine.
Being seated in front of the door , meant that the door was constantly opened. It an extremely cold day (in the high 40's), so the constant cold air blowing in on our table meant all of our food got cold extremely fast, so all of us ended up eating cold meals. Cold eggs and French toast...don't recommend it.
My youngest son ordered french toast and a cappuccino. The waiter asked what flavor cappuccino, only he failed to mention that flavor adds to the price. Also he asked my son if he wanted another when he finished the first, and didn't mention refills on that drink weren't free. Not being a cappuccino person myself, I had no way of knowing about additional charges depending on the flavor or that the refills were the same cost as the first. Not a good idea to ask a minor if they want another, ask the adults at the table and mention that refills aren't free. Not everyone knows. He also asked what flavor French toast and then rattled off flavors. Luckily I ordered the same thing and had just read that flavors are more expensive, so I was able to interject before my son ran the cost of his meal over $15. I understand up-selling but don't do it with a minor.
Overall it just wasn't a great experience that made any of us interested in coming back. Just some suggestions from a first time patron: 1) Get rid of the table by the door. It's in the way, uncomfortable for the customer, there is too much traffic around it, and the constantly opened door makes their food cold. 2) It is unnecessary to send 3 different employees to check on a customer in a 90 second time frame. If a customer is putting food in their mouth, it's rude to walk up to their table at that moment and start talking to them. 3) Don't assume customers know the same information about your menu that you do. Also, please stop trying to up-sell to kids. Adults are the ones...
Read moreExceptionally good breakfast. A well-managed restaurant, staffed with outstanding employees. Excellent service. A very cozy but, busy busy diner environment.
Sunday morning and patrons were lined up on the sidewalk out front. The waiting area inside was packed. Normally I would have done a U turn. I have to know, is Eggsquisite Café really that good? We got in line.
Out front a pleasant young lady was managing the waiting list. A great process using the Yelp App. Give her your phone number and you are in queue. What is cool about this that you can check on the Yelp App to see where you are on the wait list. Watch it count down as your turn gets closer. You don’t have to watch it though. When you are up, you will get a text. I like this process. 20 minutes passed and we were seated by the friendly host.
Inside the restaurant was packed. Within seconds, Byron E. our server was at the table to get our drink order. So, at this point I have interacted with 3 employees. Each carried a big bright smile and radiated a welcoming hospitable attitude. It appears that management picks the right employees and the employees enjoy their work. The restaurant is well-staffed. Employees hustling everywhere. Keeping things moving smoothly. Tables bussed promptly, cleaned and the next patron in queue is seated. The seats stayed warm. Reoccupied in minutes.
I ordered my usual. Check the pictures. My wife ordered biscuits and gravy with 2 eggs on the side. There was no question in my mind that the food would exceed expectations. Even with the establishment packed wall to wall; the food was out in minutes. Yes, the kitchen must be efficient and as well managed as the rest of the operation. The food was perfect.
Then there is the special coffee served. My cup said Segafredo Zanetti® Coffee Crafted Like No Other®. It is a nice cup of coffee. Be sure to try it.
When paying my bill up front, the lady aske me “How was everything?” I replied Eggsqusite! She chuckled. I’m sure that wasn’t the first time that she had heard...
Read moreWe were super excited for this place to open in Sherman, then admittedly disappointed to find out they don’t have mimosas because we know of other locations that have them. But they told me that we are allowed to bring in our own sparkling wine and we can make our own with their juices, so we did that on this next visit and it worked great, they were super accommodating. On our first visit the Salmon Benedict was great and the cinnamon pancake was amazing. Also got a nitro cold brew with sweet cream and it was great. This latest visit we got the cinnamon roll pancake again because OMG it is so good, and tried the crab cake Benedict and it was AMAZING. Super crispy hash browns which I love. And I got a cappuccino this time and it was so good! Also we particularly noticed the place was run like a well-oiled machine, it was very busy on Sunday but we only waited like 2 minutes and I could see why. Everyone was working hard but also seemed chipper and almost everyone came over and talked to us and were so friendly. The manager is extremely attentive, making rounds constantly and checking on tables and making sure everyone is happy. Really a great vibe and great service, this will be a regular spot for...
