First time going here since itās opened as a Ziggiās. I looooved the old coffee place that used to be in this building, so I thought Iād give it a shot! I ordered a 16oz Toffee Nut latte and a raspberry almond āscone.ā In short, both were pretty awful and WAY too sweet. As for the longer version: the latte was so sweet and milky I genuinely thought theyād forgotten the espresso, until I drank about half and could finally start to taste a hint of coffee flavor (yes, I still drank it, Iām not for wasting a $6 coffee unless itās genuinely poisoned). It tasted like steamed coffee creamer. The only energy boost I got from this latte was an intense sugar rush, even while sipping it slowly over the course of 4 hours (and Iām a caffeine addict, sugar sensitivity isnāt common for me). I understand that a 16oz is likely only getting 2 shots of espresso and is likely to be on the sweeter side, but the complete lack of espresso flavor due to overpowering sweetener is not due to volume. Thats either just bad flavor balance, or bad espresso shots. However, I will give them kudos for how well the milk was steamed! Very smooth and the perfect temperature. As a barista myself, Iāll congratulate game where I see it. Now for the scone, I have literally nothing good to say. I wasnāt able to finish it, waste aside. It appeared and tasted underbaked. The texture was disgusting and doughy, more like an underbaked Costco muffin than a scone. Iām baffled that they would even dare to call it a scone, to be honest. I took a bite and could feel my English great grandmother rolling in her grave at the suggestion that this was a āscone.ā The raspberry almond flavor was underwhelming, and completely overshadowed by the pure sugary taste and how gross it felt in my mouth. I doubt the location in particular has any control over the food items, as theyāre likely packaged/frozen and transported from another location since this is a chain, so I canāt really blame them for that part. But the coffee can likely be helped, I think the ratios are just wildly off. This is more of a warning for my fellow Sherwoodians looking for a new, convenient local coffee stop. If you like Dunkin Donuts coffee, you might like this place, I donāt know. But if you actually like espresso and want your coffee to taste like coffee, not a sweetened kids steamer, I would suggest steering clear. Sorry yāall. No shade to your employees, though, they were pretty chill in the brief...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHave been there twice now in 2 days. Wanted to try to give them a fair shake. We got a breakfast burrito that was pretty good has the hatch green chili because the company's from Colorado. It was pretty good. We also got the waffle sandwich which was very good. As for the coffee: I've had both a latte and a blended drink and both of them were pretty good I don't think they got the half sweet instruction on my blended. It was overly sweet but their flavors are good. My wife had a latte and an Americano. The latte again was pretty good but the Americano was definitely a struggle. Espresso was super burnt. They are still new so willing to give them the benefit of the doubt on that one and try them again at some point.
They definitely have a huge selection of sugar-free flavors which is really nice. They also have a huge selection of sugar-free cold foam flavors. You can also get a bunch of different kinds of alternative milks and even heavy cream.
Services been good they've been training but has still been good and nice without being overly talkative.
Will give them a go again in...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI figured if Iām driving 15 minutes out of my way itās probably worth it to leave a review. I found Ziggiās one day on accident and it was SO good. I donāt love coffee. I donāt enjoy it. Itās too bitter but I drink it to keep me focused sometimes. But I LOVE Ziggiās. The same drink I get at black rock and Starbucks that tastes bland and just ok, is absolutely delicious and creamy at Ziggiās. I donāt know what makes it so different but I am absolutely willing to drive out of my way for something Iāll actually enjoy. They could definitely work on customer service, all the times Iāve been there I feel a little uncomfortable because theyāre just not āfriendlyā but hey, they give me great coffee...
