After checking out the reviews for various shops/ice cream in Shipshewana, decided to try Mom's and see which reviews give the better picture...and are we glad we did. When we arrived, there were numerous locals around (always a good sign), and we were quickly asked our choices. I ordered a small waffle bowl (2 dips) with Coconut Almond and Butter Pecan & Cashew, while Julia got the same size with just the Coconut Almond scoops. We were expecting some small scoops...but when we were called back up, were almost overwhelmed by the amounts...easily 4-5 big scoops! And while we both thought the Butter Pecan was good...if you like coconut you have to get the Coconut Almond. It was almost sinful! And being from Pittsburgh, we did not think the pricing was even close to outrageous for the amount we received. We stayed nearby, and drove by Mom's everyday, and it was always busy. The only reason we did not stop in again was to protect our waistlines! :-) But Mom's will definitely become a feature of future trips to...
Read moreWe LOVE ice cream! Compared to Lucy's, Brenda's, Tiffany's, Howie's, , E &S, and this ice cream the taste is okay, but the cost and size were less than the others. We tried Mom's last week to compare to decide our future business. . We got a small vanilla regular cone and a chocolate.one. They each cost $2.25 and looked like baby cones! The. cones were smaller to hold and the amounts of ice cream inside the cones were less than Mom's competitors. Mom needs to give bigger servings or charge less. Best if she gave larger servings for a little less money or even her small size for less money to compete with others...

Now I know where it is and it is a regular stop on any treks through Amish country. Hope the business continues to flourish and grow and add more flavors. (One suggestion: describe what is in the flavors you have posted .... the names make it hard to choose.) Peppermint is simply the best in the world! Prices very reasonable for this quality of ice cream - dense and creamy and flavors are true (not...
