I read the reviews of others. Wow,"Stold". Now that is funny, an illiterate complainer. Imagine that. Did it ever occur to that writer he, she,or it opened up a possible legal case of slander? On the net no less. We can fix ignorant, can't fix stupid. Today (7-22-14) was my first visit to Aunt Nancy's. I felt comfortable the moment I walked in. The environment was "Mom & Pop" settings. (Not many of those left around). The service was right on the money along with pleasant attitudes. My meal was as good as I have ever enjoyed anywhere in the United States. (That covers just about anywhere one has traveled from the Pacific to the Atlantic, from our southern borders to our northern borders). Nothing too spicey as served, nothing too bland as served. All prepared and served with full consideration. The coffee was absolutely delicious, brewed in comparison with the best. Diners have it tough....can't please everyone and trust me, no matter where you are there are going to be 10% of impossibles to please. My advice is, eat out more, My experience today was .....no complaints. Everyone has different tastes....Some have a bad taste in their mouth BEFORE they dine. Complaining will just give you indigestion. Omelet eaters: It is rather difficult to mess up an omelet. If one wants it runny or hard then specify so. Most cooks are proud of their omelets and will create your plate the way you want it. (Personally I like eggs benedict, although some times the "house" hollandaise sauce" has too much mustard in it, especially in New York). Nothing wrong with the prices at Aunt Nancy's in my opinion, I got what I paid for. Thank you for reading this review, I have written many. This one I give a 4.5 star on a 5 star top. Rich...
Read moreYesterday was finally the day I decided to give Aunt Nancys a try for the first time. I've passed by the place hundreds of times and always eat somewhere else because the yelp reviews haven't been all that good. I walked in and the place has a down home family feel. The restaurant appears to be in a old converted home and is decorated with items and signs you can purchase and take home. The staff was very friendly and immediately sat us at a table. I took a quick look over the menu and asked about any signature dishes that they specialized in. The server told us about the hatch green Chile sauce and chicken fried steak. I decided to try the ham steak and eggs. The meal comes with potatoes and a homemade biscuit with gravy. The meal was excellent I thought. The ham was thick cut, the potatoes where cut real thin and cooked perfectly. The biscuit and gravy was ok but keep in my mind I'm a biscuit and gravy snob.. I was able to see the chicken fried steak and eggs that came with hatch Chile sauce and it looked amazing as well. That meal came with a pancake a honestly that's probably something I wouldn't order from there again. I love pancakes but there was something missing taste wise with it. It could have been the batter, butter, or syrup.
Overall I was happy I went in to try this place for myself and not solely base my opinions on the experiences of others. The food was excellent, portions are great, and the service was awesome. I know at one point aunt nancys was cash only but they take card now so no need to worry if your...
Read moreClassic cafe atmosphere that is authentic (as in its super kitschy, but not because they think you’ll like it but because they do). The food quality was great for a cafe (we’ve been to a few cafes in the area and this was our favorite food-wise by far!). We split the special a cinnamon roll and a hot chocolate: •Eggs sunny side up: Average (what you’d expect from any cafe) •Cottage potatoes: Above average (comparing to hash browns you’d typically get at a cafe). They were like a mix between scalloped potatoes and hash browns and we loved it. •Biscuit and gravy: Average (what you’d expect from any cafe) •Chicken fried steak: Above average. They had great flavor and good mouth feel (whatever that means, but I can’t figure out how else to explain it) •Hot chocolate: Excellent! They served it in two pieces, a mug FULL of whipped cream (like actually cream that was whipped) and then a cute little metal container to dump on top. •Cinnamon Roll: Excellent! Great frosting, served hot and with a strawberry (which I thought was unique AND delicious!). My wife said it was the best she’d had, which I thought was a little over the top, but it was definitely delicious!
It was a little more pricey than I expected, but within the realm of what to expect from a cafe. Our meal ended up costing about $20 for all of that. The waitress was nice, but we’re glad we got in early because it got crowded (Saturday morning) by the time we left and she was busy.
We’d like to come back next time we’re...
