I write this review not angry or wanting to put Fairfield Market down, just very disappointed. I heard great things about this place, and the food did not fulfill my expectations.
Short Version: Entered store at 10am with a friend, service was slow, food took a while. Food was very disappointing. They put white bread on my burger instead of jalapeno bread. I put 3 stars because the staff was so nice, it was simply the food that was a letdown due to flavor and cost.
Full Version: Went to pick up food at 10am sharp with a friend, we were looking to pick up lunch before heading back to the office, and I had heard great things about this place from others. We entered in and saw the place virtually empty. Waited a few minutes for somebody to help us. The system seemed to be having issues, so another staff member came over and took our order. I don't know her name, but she was very attentive to us and made our experience much better. She gave us an itemized receipt and gave us our drinks (even offering a refill despite being takeout customers). BIG props to this staff member! Food took quite a while despite us being the only people in the place, but it was near opening so I guess I can't be too harsh. Food: I ordered a burger on jalapeno bread (they did not give me jalapeno bread; I was so disappointed) with onion rings and a small thing of blueberry lemon pound cake. The burger was a big letdown. I didn't like the white bread served on it, and overall, it tasted very unseasoned. Something was just off about it, and I believe it to be the bread. It just wasn't a good burger sad to say. And for the price, it made it worse. ($16) The onion rings (5$, not included with burger) were strange, I've never had "fall off the ring" onion rings before, but it was like eating a raw sliced onion that had breading suggested to it. I'm a fan of crispy onion rings, but the onion was hard, while the breading was super soft. It made them hard to eat. The included horseradish sauce was fine, but again it was like dipping a sliced onion into it, the breading just didn't stay well. The pound cake was a letdown ($6.99). It was hard, as if it had been sitting out. Not moist, and the lemon flavor was very subtle. The blueberries were good on top. The only good thing about this was the sweet tea. It's very good sweet tea.
Overall, I was very disappointed with my visit here. Fairfield Market only gets 3 stars due to the nice staff. I don't plan to come back for the food, which makes me sad to say. I feel like I'm missing something here, as this place has 4.5 stars. The food is simply too expensive, and I can think of 5 places off the top of my head around the Shreveport-Bossier area that has better burgers for...
Read moreWent for the first time this week at the claim from my friend that they had the best brisket sandwich of ever! She was not wrong. Food was absolutely delicious. Wait staff was kind and quick for a busy Saturday. The place is super clean and very nicely decorated, with what looks to be an awesome wrap around patio complete with both fans and a fire place. Prices are moderate- not cheap but not too expensive, either, and I think it reflects the quality of the food. You could spend a month ordering a different sandwich or po-boy alone and not repeat anything (they also offer entree plates, salads, soups, and appetizers) Will definitely be back and try...
Read moreSUCH a cute little building to shop and eat in. I think about their chicken salad and all the ways they serve it, every single day. It's such a good savory chicken salad, and I love buying some to take home. The sandwiches all come on fantastic bread - the sourdough and the jalapeno are the favorite in my household. My husband and I just got take out and couldn't be more pleased with our meal. His club sandwich is made with thick cut, high-quality deli meat and my Cuban sandwich is absolutely perfect. They do some sort of batter or breading on their fries, which are huge, and we can't get enough of them. Tangy fry sauce...
