Ok....So my son asked me to eat here today. Because he had never been , I brought him after his Drs appt today. We came at lunch time so it was busy, with all the older folks coming in for the lunch special, which was a meat loaf today . And the portions they give people are worth the $11 they're charging for it. I ordered breakfast, which is what Landon wanted but then changed his mind and got a bacon cheeseburger instead. I like my eggs over medium as you can clearly see ,it wasn't what I got. But the presentation of the food when it came to the table was very greasy ,NOW ,i am not the butter police ,and I love butter ! But it drenched my plate! It shouldn't weigh down my food and be all over the plate. Then the hash browns looked as if they were prepared ahead of time, then used when ready, they were a complete "mush" on the inside of that thick layer of crunch. I eat my hash browns with sour cream ,they don't have that here so I used ketchup to try to make them better , but it didn't work ..they were the only thing left on my plate. The cleanliness of the place ! 😳 Guys come on. Every plexi that was hanging from the ceiling for social distance had nasty little handprints on them , to the point you can tell they've been there for weeks. The menus had food and grease stuck on them , everything was "greasy" feeling like the chairs and the tables The place needs to be cleaned, wiped and sanitized for sure and this is a new location. We had Dottie for our waitress and although she was nice , she kept sniffling her nose when she would talk to us. 🤔🤨Hmmm... She was complaining to another employee about another employee. Which shouldn't happen where customers can hear you I was very upset that I didn't even get to say hello to my friend Laura who works here. She was the only person I saw assisting her tables with love and laughing and carrying on with her customers. She is the heart of this place always has been and always will be. She is perfect all the way around and has been here for a long time and makes the place shine with her smile and attitude. More Laura people ,that is what you need !!! 3/10 for me on this one I feel like the interview staff ( the people who hire people) shouldn't just allow anyone to work here , they should be chosen with care. Appearance and hygiene are a key factor when hiring someone. I don't believe they were running on Red Bull and Monster if ya know what I mean !!!🤦 Also we waited for them to make peanut butter and strawberry pie !! THAT WAS WORTH THE WAIT the pies here are the only thing I can say get a...
Read moreDisappointing to say the least. We went on Sunday for breakfast, but arrived after 10am. Biscuits are not available after 10am. I was really disappointed that I couldn't order Biscuits and gravy. So I opted for the cheeseburger and fries. My man ordered the hungryman breakfast. About 2 minutes later I saw the sign for the Sunday plate lunch special. I asked the waitress to cancel my burger and fries so I could get the turkey and dressing plate. She told me that I still had to pay for the burger and fries, which was ridiculous! I said ok. I should have walked out then. I got the turkey and dressing almost immediately. The turkey was a slice of lunch meat covered with the worst mushy dressing I've ever eaten. The salad came with thousand island dressing all over it. The server never asked what dressing I wanted. I don't like thousand island. She would not come back to the table after bringing the food. The mustard greens were good. That was the only edible thing on the plate. Luckily, I still had a burger and fries coming. The fries came out next, by a different server. They were pitiful, flavorless, and cold. I didn't eat them either. Eventually I got my burger. I ordered it with mustard and mayo, it was also dressed with thousand island. No mustard or mayo. The meat is small frozen square patties. About the size off a kids burger at Wendy's or McDonald's. The diameter was about the size of my coffee cup. Again it was flavorless and a waste of money. I was starving, so I ordered 2 slices of pie, 1 peanut butter and 1 strawberry. Both Pies were ok. They are very sweet. In The strawberry pie, you could actually taste the sugar granules. Both Pies were mostly whipped topping, but they were ok. Nothing to write home about. I'm not sure what the draw to this place is. The first waitress was rude, but the other server that stepped up made up for the other girl, thus she got the tip handed to her directly. My husband loved his breakfast. I might try going before 10am to give the breakfast a try. But otherwise, I would definitely...
Read moreI'm a chef at Bella fresca and was head chef at the Cub and designed the kitchen for Salt restaurant. I want to say that this was the most disrespected I've ever been. The man or "owner" of the strawns on Kings highway basically called me a liar and yelled at me in front of the restaurant for something the waitress messed up. She wasn't very patient with me when I tried to make my order and ask questions. My order was totally wrong. I even tried calling iny order but the phone was off the hook which being in the business I know is something that is done at places like this when they are busy. I've been in this business for twenty years and you do not under any circumstances treat customers like that. He told me never to come back and basically accused me of doing this on purpose in order to get a free pancake. I'm a chef. If I want a free pancake I'll just make one at home. In fact this order wasn't even for me. It was for my fiance and her co worker. It's nity fault your waitress wasnt patient and messed up the order. No matter what you do not yell at a customer. His sister is the owner of the strawns too shop and I can tell you when I talked to her she was very nice and understanding and admitted to her brothers bad temper. Strawns is a staple of Shreveport and it's a shame that this happened. I won't be going back. Not bc he asked me to never come back but bc I'm choosing not to come back and I'll make sure all of the clients I know in this business will...
