First time visiting this restaurant. Based on online review star ratings of 4.3 I felt pretty confident in the chance of a good experience. My wife and I were sat immediately on a Saturday morning at around 10 AM even though the restaurant was quite busy. Our server came to our table quite promptly considering the crowd. Our drinks came out quickly. After our order was placed it took over 30 minutes before another server stopped by our table to check in. She promptly asked if she could take our order and we advised that we had been waiting over half an hour for our food without any checking in from our original server. She advised that the kitchen was backed up and she would check on our order. At the same time 3 to 4 other tables that arrived after us were served and eating their food already. About 5 minutes later our food arrived incomplete with the server mentioning needing my wife’s toast to be toasted. Also my order was missing items. We waited an additional 5 minutes for toast delivered by our original server with a shallow “sorry” for our delay (first time back to our table in over 40 minutes). As we proceeded to try our honestly good looking food we discovered 90% of everything was room temperature or cold. Have you ever tried sunny side up eggs cold with a side of matching cold floppy bacon. It was not a good look! As my wife was cautioning me to remain calm and our original server did not check in or deliver the balance of our missing order I no longer had an appetite for my cold food. We proceeded to let the server know the food was not hot and we did not want any more food wasted in remaking as now we have been there for over an hour. Our original server arrived back removing our food order saying we only had to pay for our 2 drinks (one Diet Coke and one coffee). I immediately proceeded to pay at the manager/owner front area to checkout. I mentioned to the manager/owner our experience and questioned being charged almost $8 for half a cup of coffee and half of a fountain Diet Coke after our breakfastless over hour experience. I was greeted by the manager with “well did you drink your drinks?” And request payment. I am not a thief and said I would pay but stressed my dissatisfaction. I mentioned I had high expectations and did not blame the service but would consider visiting again if things were different. At this point Manager/owner arrogantly stated come back and tell me what happened and He would “make it better next time”. Why couldn’t he resolved it on the spot even after asking for $8 for half a fountain drink and a cup of coffee. You can decide for yourself but I have never heard of this “customer service” after such a miserable experience. ...
Read moreMy first visit to the Golden Oak Pancake House started with me having to wait as the person I presume to be the manager, was helping an elderly person. After the wait I was eventually seated at a table in which the upholstery on the chairs were peeling which was not very desirable at all. I did notice that the upholstery on other chairs and tables we're bad but not nearly as bad as the table I was sat at the server who took my order did not understand enough English to answer my questions which was a problem, but I did make it work. Ended up ordering a two egg breakfast with turkey sausage and fresh fruit which consisted of cut up strawberries bananas and blueberries and pancakes. I ordered my scrambled eggs with American cheese and instead of scrambling the cheese in the eggs they just laid slices on top. That wasn't what I was expecting. The turkey sausage was good, the fresh fruit was fresh fruit. However I see why they are called a pancake house. I had the plain pancakes but they were so fluffy. The pancakes really were the star of the show. The service however was not. At one point the manager brought a coffee pot refilling coffee and literally walked by every table but mine even though I had an empty coffee cup ever filled every cup of coffee in my side of the restaurant but my own. On top of that my server was so busy because the restaurant is quite large that she was not able to do proper table touches for me. Compared to all of the other diners I was definitely sticking out like a sore thumb, don't know if that affected my experience, but I definitely know my experience was not good enough for me to recommend it to someone who called me while I was eating and I didn't even want to recommend the place to them even though...
Read moreWe went as a family if 12 yesterday for Father’s Day. We arrived at 9:40. At 9:45 they announced they would hand out numbers and seat in about 15” due to kitchen back up. Totally understood we were seated at 10:30 no server came to our table to ask drink /food order until 11:10 she said she had another table to take drinks and would be back to take order. Drinks came fairly quickly. Food order wasn’t taken until 11:35. Our food did not arrive until 12:30. We had to ask for coffee refills and for silverware even after our food arrived. We asked for milk refills for the kids and the server stated there were no refills on milk. I feel that having to wait 2 hours from time we were seated to get our breakfast that was ridiculous. We had 6 kids from 1-10. They were awesome during this lengthy time. I do realize that yesterday was a busy day for any breakfast establishment but I feel this was totally unacceptable and the restaurant was not prepared. The server said several times she had a lot of tables and that we had a large party. Yes we did but not any smaller than her other tables if which two of them had as many as we did and one had more. I will say she did have at least 7 large party tables and could have benefited from some assistance. However rudeness gets you no where. This was the first time some of my family were there and they will not return. We have been several times and never experienced this type of rudeness or service. We ate so fast to leave I’m not sure I even enjoyed my breakfast. Sorry for lengthy comment Sad was to start Father’s Day we left at 1:10pm (3 1/2...
