I really want to like this place if for no other reason than they use a jalapeno pepper as an apostrophe in their name. I have had issues with Chili's for several years dating back to when their food was so salty I was hit with thirst attacks after departure. Last time I visited I ordered beef tacos, which arrived with thick, cold slices of tough steak on the bottom ... the cold avocado was, of course appropriare. The tortillas were cold and doughy and I detected little if any seasoning overall (bland, tough, cold tacos). The accompanying black beans arrived cold; when I requested salsa it evoked a puzzled response on the part of the server. My wife's steak was gristly. . . . I just want to like Chili's. Yes, it's not a Mexican restaurant; it's Tex-Mex, so at least do that right [as opposed to now ubiquitous "Southwestern" ambitions]. Perhaps start with a perfect chili con carne, the original Tex-Mex dish and do that to perfection without black beans or gratuitous cilantro. Chili's, go beyond your jalapeno apostrophe! . . . This portion of the review is based on my Father's Day 2019 visit. My opinion is the same as before, but reinforced somewhat. Here are a few issues our June 16 visit: soggy, wet [with grease] hamburger; nice piece of salmon 'compromised' by a green avocado-based herbal salsa squirted on top; good French fries; gummy cheesecake ... all topped off with Chili's signature saltiness [including in the meat patty]. Go easy with the excess salt, marginally successful, often gratuitous "Southeastern" aspirations ... and charging almost $7 for a basket of greasy, salty tostada chips and salsa, which should be given...
Read moreI did post something but it looks like it is not on the site. I went to Is the mechanicsburg restaurant. There were only 3 other people seated in there. And it took almost 20 minutes for the waitress to come and take our order. At that time, we were ready to order both the appetizer and our meal. Before we were even done with our appetizers, she asked if we wanted a box to go, and we had not even received our main course yet. my son and I he ordered the cajun Pasta, it was undercooked and the chicken was very dry. I ordered the Burger with fries I ordered it medium when I got it. It was well done. When I told the waitress about it, she laughed and said yes or cooked Stone. Know how to cook burgers if you ask for it Rare they'll do it medium. If you ask for, Medium they do it well done. She did not even ask if I wanted my Burger replaced. We also ordered appetizers first which I would recommend the chicken Bacon ranch casadia. As far as the atmosphere, the floor the paint is all chipping. There is dried cheese underneath the table. And the waitress never came back and asked if everything was o k, she just brought us or refill and left. She was too busy laughing and carrying on at the bar with a couple that was sitting there. Too bad Gordon Ramsay. Don't go in there and see how they cook and what their place looks like. Update.. 1/3/24..I am STILL waiting for them to call after going to the info provided by their response on here.. of the corporate don't care I can see why the employees don't...
Read moreMay 21st lunch with gal pals was terrific. I had not visited a Chili's since they first opened in Mechanicsburg, PA years ago. I was pleasantly surprised by the wonderful menu options and especially the prices. Our waitress was Kirsten, who is a true professional and really on the ball. Kirsten could not have been friendlier or more accommodating. Everyone enjoyed their food tremendously. My 6 oz. sirloin steak could have been a bit more rare, but was very tasty nonetheless. The 3 for me deals are a super bargain. You can have a beverage, starter and entre for only $11. There are more options with the prices scaled up according to what you order. We had two large baskets of warm tortilla chips with salsa for the table and those of us who had ordered chips and salsa were given bags and cups of salsa to take home. My Radical Rita cocktail was just an additional $5 on this day. The atmosphere is very nice for groups of any kind. The restaurant is totally handicapped accessible. I highly recommend Chili's in Mechanicsburg, PA for your next dining...
