Independent Deli — Restaurant in Silverthorne

If you’re reading this, you’re already doing better than I did. My recommendation: get food from any of the better spots in the Bluebird Market.

Here’s why— I thought I ordered a Reuben. But when I got the sandwich, it was clearly not a Reuben. When I brought it back, the guy asked for my name, looked up the order, and told me I had ordered the pastrami sandwich. Then he walked off. Despite his poor customer service and generally rude attitude—okay, fine—it was apparently what I ordered.

Even judged on its own merits, the pastrami sandwich was bad. I love mustard and pastrami, but all I could taste was mustard. The pastrami had no flavor at all. The bread? About the quality of store-brand King Sooper bread—thin and tasteless.

We also ordered a turkey and avocado sandwich. Again: poor-quality bread, flavorless meat, and what seemed like watered-down guacamole instead of avocado slices (yes, there’s a difference).

Mediocre food, warehouse atmosphere with several restaurants surrounding a common eating space. You place your order from a tablet at most of the restaurants in this venue. In theory that's a great idea. But the execution of the order-and-delivery system are poor. Menus are difficult to read, and patrons cluster in a bottleneck to read them from the wall. The restaurants are minimally staffed. (Independent Deli had only one employee making all of the orders one at a time.) The order number on my receipt didn't match the number on my phone confirmation. So I wasn't quite sure when my order was ready. I suppose this is a good place to eat if you have to accommodate several people. However, you pay sit-down restaurant prices...

The independent deli is absolutely hands down the best sandwich location in and around Silverthorne! They have great bread for all of their sandwiches and even gluten free which I was surprised to see! Fresh boars head meat and cheese with shaved lettuce on the sandwich adds such a nice touch. Fantastic local owners that have carved out a great spot to serve great sandwiches at a great price for the product they are serving!
