TLDR: service and food were extremely bad. do not go here if you are expecting a regular grill/hometown restaurant.
me and my mom went here wanting to try somewhere we’ve never been before. the minute we walked in i felt kind of disappointed at the space as it was kind of a hole in the wall but we have been in many of those that have great food, so we tried it out. the waitress gave us our menus and didn’t even ask us if we wanted drinks, my mom had to ask the second time she came around. i then look at the menu and realize there aren't any fried items, which is our fault for not looking at the menu beforehand but i happened to really want fries today. instead of fries you can get one of their many sides (which is mainly just steamed vegetables) or potato chips, which is just a bag of lay’s. i got over it and hoped that what i ordered would make up for it. it absolutely did not. my mom ordered a cheeseburger - which the waitress heavily recommended- and i ordered a chicken philly, with no onions or peppers (like a philly usually has). the food came out and i get a slab of grilled chicken on a bun with a kraft american cheese single. i am immediately disappointed but im very non confrontational and told my mom to not worry about saying anything. my mom ordered her cheeseburger medium well and it looked very very pink, almost rare. anyways we try to eat the food but we ended up not eating a lot. when we go up to pay the guy clearly sees us standing and keeps on with his conversation as if we are not there for about a minute. as my mom pays she explains that on the receipt it said “chicken sandwich” and i explicitly said i wanted a chicken philly. he dryly apologizes and doesn’t offer to take anything off the order, which is fine, but would’ve been nice. the waitress explains how she thought i said sandwich because i said “no lettuce or tomato” which i did not say. very poor listening skills on her part, very poor food, and sub par service. none of this is meant to be hostile towards anyone, just a suggestion that some changes may be a...
Read moreApril 30th: I hate to be the first bad review but I really didn’t like King Tut. My husband and I went last night and ordered from the kiosk (I wish there was a sign of some sort to let people know what/where to go) and sat down at a booth. The booths themselves were not glued down (the padding) so you had to sit in the middle to avoid the padding being in the air on the other side (easier to see in person of course). I did find it a bit distasteful to ask for a tip when the customer has to place the order, make the drink, get own refills, grab own cutlery, and throw food away before leaving. With that being said, the food was also an issue for me. I ordered a cheeseburger well done and received it medium rare. I told the wait staff and it was sent back. I will say it took nearly 27 mins to get my burger the first time so I was a bit hesitant to wait again for the remake but I did since I was hungry. Anyway, I received my burger the 2nd time in about 14 mins (yes, I used a timer because that’s my personality). The burger was very thin (I felt I overheard the grill master pressing down on the burger) which ultimately gets rid of all juices prior to receiving it. The cheese had not melted by the time I received it and the bun was not toasted or anything and was actually cold. With that being said, I was hungry so I ate the burger. Overall it was seasoned well but terribly dry (similar to McDonald’s). In the end I paid 9.95 for a cheeseburger and I substituted the chips for potato salad (which was 1.95 extra). I don’t think the quality received is $12 appropriate especially when it’s a flattened patty that for one wasn’t cooked right (1st time) and 2 only comes with chips. There are several other things I would comment on, but I would prefer others to try it out and see. I do have a concern in regards to asking for a tip when the only thing done is bringing the food out. Advice, toast the bun or make sure it’s warm when sent out. Hope everyone has a...
Read moreDo not waste your time!! The website for this place claims they make the best steaks in the upstate and try to make themselves look like a nice spot. It is far from that. First the atmosphere is cold, dark and dingy. There was no one to greet us as we walked in and our waitress took a while to take our order. She was sweet though and did a good job keeping our drinks full. Second, they claim market price in their menu for their steaks. The smalles steak being a 6 ounce ribeye (because they can’t get New York strip) was priced around $30. My fiancé and I had planned to split a 22 ounce plate but was told it was going to be around $70 (I don’t remember the exact prices). Instead, I opted for a smothered potato with chili and bacon while my fiancé got steak tips with the same potato I ordered simply because he wanted some good steak and wanted to try what was claimed to be the best. First of all, the chili was very sweet, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing but not what most people are going for when they ask for chili. The chili itself wasn’t hot, the beans were over cooked and there wasn’t very much meat in it. The potato’s we were served were undercooked and covered in a healthy layer of dirt, they did not come out smothered, instead all the toppings came in plastic ramekins on the side. I put it together and took a few bites but all I could taste was dirt. My fiancés steak tasted like a dirty grill and everything was served on plastic plates and our drinks in clear plastic solo cups. When we were finished, we had to clear our own table, and place our dirty silverware in a gross bin full of nasty silverware. Don’t waste your time trying this place out, you will be severely...
